I think I am going to get Rock Band simply because it has more popular music. And it also has the option for upgrades since it also has vocals and drums, and bass.
if you think the song list for rock band is anywhere near being fully released your confused. there are a ton of songs yet to be announced. probably the more difficult ones.
and your not paying 170 for one game. your paying 170 for 4 games. you can play through career with every instrument. you cancompetehead to headwith every instrument. you can compete online with other bands. you can have huge badass rockband parties. 170 is an amazing price for such an epic game.
I played GH3, and I'm disappointed. I'm surprised they can keep up with games that don't drastically change too much. So I'd rather play something new. It's entertaining, but I only ended up playing for 10 minutes before getting tired. GH2 was fun, but the formula hasn't changed.
On the other hand: Rock band looks interesting and different. And being that I'm a drummer, it strikes more of my interest. But the price..... MEH. Sure it's a lot of material but seriously. I got bills to pay.
GHIII, Rock Band's songs are cool but are boring to play, their expert songs look like medium on GHIII! ill wait for Rock Band III when they come out with some challeging songs and GHIII has 20+ more songs.
Im affraid I would have to choose GH3, because its a lot better in the long run. Unless you got the money, and want to have sum fun with friends... but still. Get guitar hero

I'll be getting neither. I bought GH2 and played the GH3 demo and came to the realization that paying 100$ + for a rhythm game is just stupid. and $170 for one is insane. Maybe if Rock Band releases individual instruments I'd think about it. And no I wouldn't use my GH2 guitar for GH3, the buttons are seizing up on it.
Guitar Hero III. I'm not interested in playing drums or singing. On the other hand, there are some songs in the Rock Band playlist that I'd like to have, but I can say the same about GH3. (There is some overlap in the playlists). And since it's rare to have more than one person to play against or with, and since everyone seems to want to play the guitar, GH3 fulfills all the multiplayer I need.
you guys realize that you do NOT have to buy the entire instrument set for rock band, they are packaging them seperately for whatever you want to play or all together for 170$. Also I'll be getting Rock Band becausethey are releasing downloadable tracks every week (unlikeGH2).

Coming from Playing Guitar Hero for a while now i consider myself pretty good at the game. I played a pretty lengthy test session at Best Buy the other day (im talking about Rock Band) i was on guitar some other kid was on drums, and overall it just felt like a cheaper version of GH3 really, they even both share some songs. There is no star power and no symbols telling you if you can hammer on or pull off so some times you just have to guess and get lucky, the notes are pretty small too so easy to time it wrong. If you want to play drums or sing then get rock band but if what really interests you is the guitar then just get GH3 because it does that part much much better IMO.
I'm getting GH3 bundle pack today. I have been reading some bad reviews about the wireless guitar though (losing signal, key drop outs) I hope it just Internet rumor from haters and trolls, because rest assured if there is a faulty guitar to be had out of the bunch, I'll be the one who ends up with it.:D
I got Guitar Hero 3 since the only game my friends come over to play is Halo. Little disappointed with Guitar Hero 3 because it seems easy, I know they said they switched the design on the controller but I dont think that's the reason i got 6 perfect songs first time I played them. I only had one perfect on Guitar Hero 2 so I don't know what Neversoft did to change the gameplay but it just doesn't seem as difficult any more.
