My brother has had an Xbox 360 since launch date, and has never expierenced a problem with his 360. THe reason why Ibelieve is becasue he only plays it a couple hours a week and has plent of air circulation.

My question is for those who have expiernced the 3 RROD. Is it due to playing too much or having the 360 running all the time? or is is just a hardware failure?

I havent heard anything from microsoft explaining the problem and they probably never will tell.

I was under the impression that the RRoD was often caused by the motherboard flexing when the 360 gets very hot, and the solder balls on the underside of the GPU detach from the motherboard. I think that it helps if you dont play it a lot, but i played my launch 360 for several hours a day, it eventually got the RRod a few weeks ago. Thankfully, the towel trick worked for me, and now it works great again.
