ok so i just recently bought a 32" samsung LCD 1080p 120hz tv to replace my samsung 720p lcd i bought 3 years ago. anyways, when i got it all set up i put in Modern warfare 2, and it looks beautiful. however, when i started playing, it seemed like there was something different about the controls, like they werent as tight. after playing for about a day, ive realized what it is. it seems that there is a very small amount of lag between the time i move my joystick on my controller and when my player moves on screen. my old tv did not do this which surprises me bc this is a much newer modes and an overall much better tv. has anyone else experienced this? is there anyway to calibrate the tv, or is that just the way it is with newer tvs? thanks in advance.

Newer HDTVs have so much post-processing in them, input lag is becoming more and more prevalent. Check your user manual, or browse around on the TV on-screen menus, there should be an option on there. I just bought a cheapo 720p for my bedroom with this option, so I'm sure your Samsung has something along those lines.

The setting unit you are looking for is ms(millisecond).

Sounds like your new TV has some serious input lag. There isn't much you can do but if your tv has a "game mode" activate it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Input_lag

Take a look at the wiki article on the subject. I don't know what you can really do about it, I guess play around with the options.

Maybe someone else has some more ideas?

It "could" be the controller. Is it an old 1? If u have mor then 1 try a different one. if not use a frends and if that is somehow the problem then get a new controler is all I can say.

Having worked in various aspects of Home Theater for about 3 years here are my two pieces of advice for you. First as previously stated if your tv has some sort of "game mode" turn it on it won't just adjust color and brightness but will actually help with input. Secondly turn the 120Hz off on that input. It has to do with the processing of what's happening on the screen. Games are produced for 60 fps anyways so you're not going to lose any quality bumping it back down to 60hz. To do it on a Samsung I believe it's menu, picture, MotionFlow setting, the setting itself will have 4 options High Medium Low and Off. I'm just saying try it off and that could make a difference for you.

If all else fails maybe buy a wired contoller? I can notice the difference in lag between the 2 when i play. This is of course assuming you are using a wireless controller to begin with.

This is the correct answer...it has nothing to do with his controller.
