The game would take place about 5 years after Halo 3. The Covenant and Flood wouldn't be in the game. I want the focus to be on the Forerunner. While floating in space lost, Cortana and Master Chief find and land on a empty Forerunner planet where it's revealed that many years ago it was some greater enemy who released the Flood on the Forerunner to kill them off. Whoever this enemy is would be the main villains of the new game. The Master Chief would then return to Earth where he was presumed dead and warn everyone of the impending attack from these enemies who want to kill off humans because they are sort of the descenders of the Forerunner. I main points of the story would explore who the Forerunner were, who this new enemy is and why this new enemy wanted the Forerunner, and now humans, dead.
Halo 4 should be a first person shooter to Halo trilogy, by showing how Master Cheif became so good and why is he a hero before the first Halo begins and how he ended up in that chamber.

Well if master chief did really die but didn't,halo 4 has its main character as the arbiter where the flood,covenant.and a new force of alien monsters make alliance and Arbiter now has to you know defeat his foes but in this case marines are dieing theres not much left and they are trying to defend themselves and then again the prophet of Truth is still alive but with armor and stuff since he got beat by the flood and arbiter on halo 3. He fires the halo rings once again but this time it worked and theres an after math now the marines are over and its up to the arbiter and elites to save the world.Online features,you can use a brute,jackal,grunt,and a marine as characters with different helmets and of course the same features of halo 2 and 3
Suuposedly Bungie is currently working on a 3rd person action adventure game about how the war between the Covenant and humans started. You don't play Chief, but play (I would assume) as grunts in the military. Makes me hope for Republic Commando but in 3rd person and that would be kinda cool in that universe.
My personal thoughts? Master Chief: Privateer... he's gotta earn his way back to earth by buying new ships, etc from alien races in nearby star systems, doing odd mercenary jobs, etc. Or maybe that's just because I want another game like that to come around some time :) I actually kinda like my Republic Commando in the Halo universe idea now that I think about it.
Or... it turns out the planet they land on is really the mushroom kingdom and you get to blow away nintendo characters that seem to have unlimited 1ups like in Super Mario Galaxy. It's the NEW flood! Kill them all!
