I'm getting the Elite for the HDMI, mainly. But if the Pros start shipping with HDMI any time within the next month in Europe, I'll be getting that for sure.
Now that I think about it though, a large HDD and black color would be good. Going to be a tough choice...
I was faced with this same dilemma about 4 months ago, as I was in the market for my first 360 right when the Elite came out. When I bought my Premium from my local retailer I opted for a Premium andI got a "brand new" machine that had a manufacture date of June 2006. The elites were obviously manufactured closer to April 2007 or so, assuming that *some* of the improvements made a difference with sound and such, there's some validity to buying the elite merely to make sure you get a machine that's been the beneficiary of these improvements.
Additionally,my brother bought his 360 Premium from the same retailer only two weeks ago, and his was manufactured in July 2006. Clearly, there are plenty of these "old manufacture date, yet brand new" 360s lying around on retailer shelves. So, although it makes sense to buy the premium assuming you don't care about downloading tons of movies or keeping your game demos forever, some of the benefits mentioned above by folks regarding buying a Premium that benefits from design improvements may not happen, at least if you buy it from the same retailer that I did and get an "old" one. At least with an Elite you KNOW that it was at least manufactured no earlier than April 2007 or so.
Hope that helps.

You can lock this thread. Wow i cant believe you would seriously ask that question. Elite or Pro??? hmmmmm Do kids these days not have minds of there own?? Do they have everyone answer there questions for them?? mehoff88
Its a simple question...Maybe he doesn't know all about the 2 systems
I would get pro because they are not gonna overheat with the new flacon chip (Which i hear is coming out in fall??) Also the premiums are gonna quiet down and they have hdmi (right?)
But honestly I would buy a used 360 because i belive the warranty is good from when the console was first purchased
and 3 year red ring warrranty is nice save some money and get some games to go with that machine

Yeah, but what happends when your disc drive goes bad? I think that 3 year warrenty from M$ is only for the red ring issue.
That's true. The "regular" Pro xboxes will probably be upgraded soon to take care of noise, heating and such. But with the Elite you're guaranteed all of those things if you plan to buy anytime soon. I think I'll go Elite. The color is just so much better too.Acronomic
Do a search on youtube....there are Elites that are overheating and getting the red rings. I wouldnt go as far to say that you are guaranteed the Elite takes care of the noise and heating issues. It still uses the same chip as the pro does.
it doesn't matter, all 360s can go up to 1080p, even the launch ones. cuz there was an update, that allowed all the 360s to go up to 1080p. i know because i've played in 1080p, on my launch 360. everyone probably just doesn't realize their 360s can go up that far, just go into your settings and to display, and everyone here should have the choice of 1080p. if not then you didn't get the updateascendentjustic
I'm sure people already know that, but you need to realize that there area lot of HDTV's out there that can only get 1080P thru HDMI, and I am one of them.
