Starting to get on the fence about this one, and i was all ready to grab it release day a week ago.

lol cant believe people still wanna play final fantasy i stopped at 7 they all suck after IMO. i never had any hopes of this bein good .

i have a copy of it, played about three hours, and its much better than an 8.3

i mean, its not my fav or best in series, imo, but its damn good

at least a 9 in my book

I don't put much stock in numbers, just threw it on there because some people do. The reviews themselves i enjoy reading though.

I've been waiting to play this game for almost 4 years now. Only thing I read reviews for is to see if the game is buggy and unplayable. I'm still picking this game up day one. I've played Final Fantasy since the NES so I don't want to miss out on the 13th installment. :)

Yeah, everything looks good until 40 hours of grinding and you knew there are 20 hours more grinding left. Just as I expected, presentation, the graphics, the sound, everything about it is top notch, except the extremem repetitiveness. I haven't played it, but, I assume it works just like the rest of grinding JRPG. You have to train every single role individually. $#^$*&#^* And obviously the non-combated party will get less exp $#&^$&#^. The experience is just become really repetive and slow. Sign. I hope they have build-in cheat code so I don't have to grind.magicalclick

besides, ur just nit-picking now, the game is awesome where it matters, and that is gameplay and presentation

That's weird because gamespot always gives lower scores than IGN.

def worth a purchase for anyone who is a fan of rpg's, not just JRPG's

8.3? About that, I really don't care what reviewers said. I'm still gonna buy this game.

I own plenty of games that have an average of around 60 and I still enjoyed them. Even if it averages an 80 that is a great score and I will be getting it. Grinding has never bothered me hell I played a game and had to grind for around 40-hours to just past one stage..

Wow, so some people did not like it as much as others. From what I have seen, the game looks fun but it does not seem to belong in the upper 9's or perfect score category. The fact that the summons turn into vehicles is a bit annoying and their ultimate moves are a bit meh. It's still cool but not as breath taking as previous entries. I have not played the full game so I do not know but based on what I have seen, it will not live up to be one of the greatest. It may be one of the greatest JRPG's on this generation of systems but as far as overall, I doubt it. The JRPG hayday is over as well as Square's reputation of every game being super high quality. They started going downhill with Kingdom Hearts 2. It was a cool game but failed to live up to the epicness of the first one. Square failed with Dragon Quest and the four sourds on Wii, and publisihing the rather average Infinite Undiscovery. The Last Remnant also did not seem that good. Nier could be ok but it still seems a bit iffy.

I am not trying to bash Square, I am just tired of people claiming how awesome the next square title will be and it ends up nowhere near what it seemed to be. My excitement for another Kingdom Hearts title has gone down after seeing the efforts of square this generation so far. I hope people enjoy FF 13 anyway.

First of all LOL overall rating is supposed to be a medium of all the ratings or am I wrong? IGN gave the game overall of 8.3 while all the ratings they gave added together and divided by their number makes 9. :D

I have preordered the game and can`t wait to get my hands on it. I was a bit concerned about the said differences between ps3 and xbox but after watching hd comparison videos etc I`ve come to the conclusion that they have the same graphics.

As a big fan of FF series I`m also concerned about reading reviews and posts judging the game to be shallow in its gameplay and plot. But I hope the game itself will prove those opinions wrong when I get to play it.

Talking about FF is like talking about GTA! Its one of those series who has been big for a long time and have a faithful following, and a very defensive bunch at that, so no matter what the game is like, to the faithful it will be gold and its a buy. Honestly Square could put out mud on a stick slap a FF on the cover and its going to sell. Now im not making theses statements cause i don't like FF im making them cause if you plan on saying anything on a forum other then how great the game is or will be your wasting your time. Its hard to have a discussion without most responses coming off as " if you don't like it don't buy it". Its really silly you can't have discussion on it like any other game without someone getting defensive.

I'm very excited for the game, can't wait to play it.

This is correct. I'm sure some categories hold more weight than others for them. Do we really value sound/graphics above gameplay? I sure don't. Not saying that stuff isn't important, but gameplay is key for me.

In any case it's a solid score. I'm super excited for the game, but I know it will get mixed reviews. It'll probably settle into the mid to high 80s on Metacritic. Just my opinion though.

and is 8.something really that bad? I think that even 7.something can be a good game in the end. If you like the genre and all. So I don't think it's bad game even if it gets 8.something. Still good one. Man people really want only 9 or higher rating.
