IL-2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey Demo Impressions

Hello all,

Today I downloaded the long awaited for me port to xbox360 from IL2-Sturmovik.

I played the whole game on the Pc and I am not sure but I think there might be a lot of you guys who played the best WW2 Game on PC.

Well first it is a nice game..however there are still some flaws on the game I dont like.

The controls are ok..but that accelerator on the right stick is a bit ...well could be better..

The sound is good, the aircraft modells are nice..though a bit pixelated when damaged..

The explosions in my opinion could be better and a Bomber should take a bit more beating before going down and braking apart...

The ground environment is not bad..the trees are ugly..the terrain is soso.

I experienced some slow downs a bit when a lot is moving on the screen.

There is a small window on the left bottom corner..not very nice as also pixelated.

In my opinion they have a lot of work to do to come so close like the Pc version.

It is a nice game..but the controls are not that great yet..the planes could have a bigger damage modell, like bullet holes on the plane..the ground can look better and the water effects needs still some work.

Anyone played it yet to share some ideas?

I hope Heroes over Europe will better...

I am not convinced in these 2 months they can improve it that much :(

Also the voices keep on repeating the same thing over and over..not much fun I can tell you.

Yeah, if you aren't a flight sim fan, you probably can't be changed.

I tried the demo but I did not like the controls at all. It may be a good game but it will need customizable controls if I am to rent it. I really did not like having to hold down the right stick when I wanted to look around.

I thought it would be better, its got good graphics and i like fly games with cockpit cameras but the gameplay seemed kinda boring to me, i wouldn't pay over 20 bucks for this one sorry. P.S I CANT WAIT FOR BORDERLANDS RELESE!Cypherbug30

I really liked it. The feel of the controls are pretty good. Placement of pitch/roll/throttle/yaw seemed intuitive. I found the controller feedback and audio cues rather impressive. It gave me a good feel for the heft and power of aircraft.

Not sure about the "look" controls... having to press down on the right stick AND move around didn't feel right. Other than that, flying was a bit more visceral than in games like Blazing Angels or even HAWX.

I thought the controls were damn near perfect.
