I'm 23 and i've got a mega hobby of gaming, and lets face it gaming is awsome but it dose cost alot. At the moment i keep up with all the top games i play on live and have all the consoles, but when i move into my new home i'll be down on money by about £800....arghhhhh....

What do people do when they have bills and no money....what happens to gaming?

Don't buy anymore games? Play the ones you have? Idk..COD4 is basically the only game I play, and I've played it since it's release, gaming doesn't cost me to much except for when new system comes out. EDIT: Then again I'll take 5 month breaks on gaming and then get back into it.

I usually buy used games if I am down in the money dept- or sell those I finished and I don't want to keep to get discounts on new ones.

I won't buy most games when they are just released. I'll wait for a price drop heck $39.99 is still to much for Halo3.

I just bought my friends for 10 dollars, although my xbox hasn't been turned on for a week.

You simply need to be very, very selective on what games you buy. You should only be buying games that you absolutely are into. You cant afford to take chances ongames that you may or ay notlike anymore. Or better yet, sign up for Gamefly. Heck, for I think $25 a month you can have 2 r 3 games ot at a time.

All good points. You have to look away from the idea of getting games at release. It's going to be hard at first to hear about everything people are playing that is new but you'll make it through. One good strategy would be to get games that are cheap (I got Mass Effect and Dead Rising for 30 total and it was a buy 2 get 1 free thing so I picked up Overlord too) and save any other money you can for the big releases that you're really interested in.

Same problem here. House 2 kids. -- I rent to make sure if I do buy it I will like it. --You can get much better deals for used games at Blockbuster or similar video stores than game stores. --Also buying games off friends for a bit more than the game shops would give them is a good way to save some money.

Also you may want to consider looking online for your games rather than going to retailers. I know a lot of people have had luck with NewEgg and Amazon, though I'm not sure what is available to you in the UK (which I'm assuming you live in because of the monetary system you referenced).

AND to ease my pain I went out and bought Red Faction G LOL. Seriously though, houses are money pits. Here's tohoping for a raise!

Hold back spending on another area and save up. Only buy must have games that you know will have long replay value(like online games) that have a big online community.

Having just gone through grad school, I can understand. I used the time as a chance to catch up on older games. I also borrowed games from friends, and bought cheap ancient games at yard sales and from non-game stores.

You already have some games, right? Just stick with those until you have the cash to start gaming again. Maybe sell the ones you don't play if you really want to get new games.

Obviously you'll never be able to afford AS much, but still you'll be able to get a bit. Just get ones that you really want, not ones just to test. :)

Congratulations on your new house also :)

You can still enjoy gaming while owning a house & raising kids. When on a tight budget you do just like you would for anything else. Eliminate things that aren't very important to you, instead of buying new games buy them used & rent them, sell games you don't play very often anymore, & work on lowering other costs such as making sure you turn all electrical devices off that you can when not at home.

Games go on the backburner when you have responsibilities, this hobby is funded by disposable income, if you have none then you cant buy new games. You can still play games that you already own or borrow from other people but you simply cant buy your own games.

GameFly is your friend.

Gamefly is as much of a waiting game for new releases as having no money is, however you still are spending money to have the service.

Well I suggest you limit yourself to like one new game a month, and try to get deals. Make a list of the ones you most want. I'd really keep more money aside for the house. You got a yard and everything? Plus there's furniture to buy, and I'd like to have a nice fast internet.

i use this website You can try Website number 1, where you get points for completing offers which is surveys or those ads that Pop Up And ask you to put in your email address {Don't Worry about Viruses Because YouDon't Download Anything}. Or you can even play games against people to earn points/money if you're good at game you should try this, games include a shooting gallery and racing. Once you get a lot of points you can order anything you like from amazon.com. Or You Can Try Website Number 2, Its pretty much the same thing [the ways to make money are the same] but on this website instead of getting points you can get money redeemable to be put on your e-gold, PayPal, Various Gift cards or even get a check sent to you. Both Websites Have Lotteries With Weekly Drawings And Many Cool Ways To Earn Money, They Also Have cool Contests And a Chat Box To Speak To People if You Need Help And Etc. Bottom Line this is The Most Easiest way That I Have Ever Gotten Any Money. Even If you find a job you could Visit These Websites in Your Spare Time just to get some spending money, And Hey You Might Even Get Lucky with This. I Have Seen Accounts on These Websites with Thousands of Dollars Earned, But Hey It is up To You. I Only Trust These Two Websites Just Because The Other Ones I Participated In Had Me Pay to Sign Up, I Had To Have A Credit Card, And Some Of Them Were Even Scams. But I Know For Fact That These Websites Will Work, and credit you the money/points you earn. Website Number 1 http://www.points2shop.com/index.php?ref=uin1243844532 Website Number 2 http://www.cashle.com/index.php?ref=uin1243844532 Note [If you sign up to one website it also signs you up for the Other Website Too, Same Website Different Platforms]. P.S. Don't Forget to Put in Your Real Email, Real Address and ALL Real Information when you sign up. Don't forget to confirm your email to start earning,

I feel you bro that really sucks man. My advice: buy two or three really good online gmes (ODST, Modern Warfare 2, etc.) and just stick with them.

When your an adult gaming barely matters anymore. The house is more important IMO you can always buy an older console like the PS2 & get the games cheaper.

Don't buy at the release, this has affected me and bills to, what I do is stay away from release day and wait for price drops, another thing I find doing for must must have game is set money aside, this could be as much as your budget would allow, this could be anything from $5-$10 a paycheck, and just save out each paycheck til you have enough that you can afford a game you want.

When I have no money? I get more money of course. But on the occasion that you have no more money to get, just play the ones you have I suppose. Maybe only buy a new game once a month instead of every time a new game is released (which can be very often). Maybe buying a new game every month is too much. Then maybe only get a few a year. Buy used games. Buy games off of Ebay or Craigslist.

well my advice, wait on buying a house if you think money will be that tight. You're only 23, it wouldnt hurt to just rent a cheap appartment for a few years til you can easily afford a mortgage payment AND have money leftover for hobbies, dates, food, etc. were you just living at home until now or what?

oh and you could just RENT games, like Gamefly or something. It's WAY cheaper than buying games new. Or buy OLD games off amazon.com. New Xbox360 games are way too expensive for me. I just barely bought Saints Row2 the other day (used) for $20. Sure beats $60 buying it brand new.

Buy cheaper games off of Amazon or Ebay. You can also buy last gen games as well just save up I mean buy a slightly cheaper lunch and save whatever money you save there are plenty of ways to save up money.

Just rent all the new games and if you really like the multiplayer or think the singleplayer has a lot of replayability then buy those ones.
