If I was a gambling man I'd be willing to bet it'll be a good 3 years until the next one, maybe 4. They've hinted that this generation will last longer than previous ones, and for any of the big 3 it doesn't seem like a good business move to even consider a new console in the near future.
I try to live in the present and worry about the here and now. I won't even think about a new Xbox or Xenon or whatever it's going to be called for a very long time.

i don't see any reason for Microsoft to spend all that money to design a brand new console when the 360 is still doing so well. I'd say at least 3 or 4 years.
i dont wanna spend money, but i mean, what will happen to all our achievments and everything.. im scared...but yeah it seems our little friend is only now at his highest point of his life

I totally agree with you. I'm having a lot of fun with my 360 also. I just feel like M$ doesn't care about throwing money or customers away for the sole pupose of being number 1. I think it puts pressure on other console makers to come out with stuff sooner instead of utilizing what they have with the current technology. It seems like American companies love being glutoness and wasteful. Japanese hardware makers aren't like that in my opinion.

dude ms has lost BILLIONS on the 360. RRoD sound familiar? that lost them over a billion on just that. they have gotten completely wiped out this generation and if they were solely a gaming company they would already be outta business. they just make enough money out of their other divisions to back up the losses on this one. but eventually it's going to catch up to them when they aren't pulling a profit and they will stop making consoles, unless their next system can get them in the black.

It sounds like you didn't really give it a chance. Without a memory stick you can't save games, watch downloaded video, listen to music.... no wonder you didn't like it.
The only thing I would like on the PSP is another analog stick... in my opinion that's it's one and only major drawback.
Well as someone who keeps up with all the consoles and has plenty of them along with plenty of games....I WILL NOT get the next Xbox. My 2nd one just rrod on me and Im done. MS has lost a good customer.
i won't be ready for a new xbox for at least 2 years
the only real upgrade the next gen consoles will receive anyway are better physics and i promise almost every game war game will be feature fully destructible environments

I put up a topic kind of like this in the General Games Discussion forum and I asked if anyone would really anticipate the next consoles becuase their capabilities with the gaming experience pretty much maxed out. I just can't picture a next gaming console being so much more powerful than the 360 and making the games much funner. I mean we're just about at photo realism so it doesn't need to get any better... I don't think it would be worth the money as an upgrade from the current generation.
In either the May or June edition of Gameinformer they had a little article stating that the new Microsoft and Nintendo systems were rumored to be coming out in 2010 while the new Sony system would come out in 2012. They also said that the achievements you earned on your 360 would transfer to your new Xbox. Like I said, this was all rumored but could be true.
I don't think the 360 has even hit its prime yet. But to me it's all irrelevant, because I'll buy the new one right away regaurdless of when it comes out.
2009 they'll probably announce it and they'll probably ship it out by november, if not by november of 2010. cuz systems really don't last that long i mean ever since the PS1 and Nintendo 64 came out console life has been 5 years. so what makes this one any different? every generation they say "most powerful state of the art system" when in truth that technology is actually a couple if not a few years old since that's when they started developing it. so who knows. microsoft probably has a new system and just waiting for a killer app to sell it. like GoW3
