Im not getting an achievment for getting a skull in Halo 3

Im getting the skull after you kill the scarab and need the grav lift to get. I get the skull but I get no achievement. Is the fact that I restarted a checkpoint or that my controller disconnected once stop me from getting it?

you only get them for gold skulls, not silver ones

Go to the mission select screen and press X to bring up campaign options. You should see some skulls here. Look on the bottom row and at the third skull from the left. If it is lit up and you can select it, then you have the skull.
