Im not playing on my 360 until I get the new cooling thing for free or at a lower price then $160. I got my 360 in Feb. and since then have heard alot about the ring of death. I didnt see any of those stories before I got the system. If I did I would have more PS2 game and waited longer for the 360. I always wait a year so any problem like this gets fixed and I dont have to deal this it. Sorry let me get to the point of the thread. Who is with me and will not play the 360until the cooling problem is gone?

not sure if i understood that. youre saying your 360 died and you dont want to pay to fix it cuz youre afraid it will break again? if thats the case, your 360 came with a 12 minth warranty, and if thats already up you can call support and ask for a supervisor, i heard you can get 50% off (of $140), plus when they repair it you get a new 12 month warranty.

so nothing is wrong with it, you just dont like how loud the fan is? i dont see how that could possibly be a problem. if it does break theyll probably just send you a new one with the new cooling unit. its not that much quieter anyway.

My brother had a Nyko fan. I asked him why and he said because he thought it was getting hot. His system did run a bit hot but I told him to take the fan off because hooking it into the power source of the 360 was a bad idea. He didnt listen and had to send it in. They fixed it and sent it back no ring of death. Two weeks later ring of death is back. I asked him if he used the fan and he said yes. I threw it away for him. Sent it in again and they gave him a new 360. Luckly there were no burn marks where the fan plugged into, if so they would have charged him.

I'm not with you as well, I mean I bought my 360 early this year with a warranty and have been playing it ever since, there's no problem, yet.. But if anything happens I still got my yearly warranty so if you have one you shouldn't wait, just hop on and play man.

Play for 3 hours only!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

If I spend $400 on a gaming console, I should be able to play it 10 hours a day with zero problems if I want.

If we set those kind of standards for the console makers what will be next.

Results from or tests show thatyou should not keep your Xbox 720 powered one for no more than 1 hour per week.

I agree with u , but u see i'm bit scared of my Xbox 360 breaking down ( i've 1 yr warranty still .....) . When i got my First Xbox 360 i saw its DVD rom was not reading my games so i got it replaced with a new model which works fine now. But getting the new model was hassle for me like calling the shop again and again( from where i bought my Xbox 360 ) , then calling M/S Xbox 360 Toll Free nos ( Customer care ) and ultimately getting it replaced . Where i live i saw Customer service is not very strong . So i'm over cautios now ..... Thats all:)

I'm sorry, but if you didn't buy your system until Feb of 2007 (this year) and you say you didn't hear or read anything about the overheating problems or the red ring of death until after you bought your system, then your either a bold face liar, or you didn't look for any potential problems at all, because this issue has been well brought up among owners ever since the system launched.

I bought a premium in January of 06, I played the crap out of it, 6-10 hours a day on many occasions when my wife and I would play something together over the weekends, or I just couldn't sleep at night, it got used heavily. My home is climate controled at around 72 degrees, and I take good care of my electronics, and the the 360 had open air and occasionally a fan pointed at it, but never a freeze up, a DRE, or any red lights of any kind in overyear, I sold it in perfect condition for 350 bucks, I got an Elite on launch day on April 29th, and have been enjoying it trouble free ever since,

I'm not stupid. and I'm not about to say that the 360 doesn't run too hot, I would much prefer it ran cooler, but it is nonsense that you cannot play the thing, Far more systems are out there running well, than have failed and needed to be repaired or replaced, if you take care of it, there is no reason to assume it will fall apart and break in two months, or whatever. But an extended warranty is never a bad idea. I always buy a 2 year replacement plan when I buy something new, but I guess a lot of people would just rather frantically post on message boards and not play thier console in fear of it dieing.

So, you are actually playing it less then you want because you are scared it breaks down? And you don't see something wrong with that?

loll, this whole thread it crazy. If there's nothing wrong with your 360, why are you worrying. I've had mine since launch and I heard about all the break downs and 3 rings of death, so for precautionary reasons, I bought a core system. So I have 2 right now, the first one which was the premium and a back core system just in case. I play my 360 like a madman when I can. I play for 4, 5 , 6 hours sometimes on the weekends or if I have the day off, etc.... I never had any problems at all, I still have the core in the box, never opened it at all. If you have a system thats running fine, why are you so scared, enjoy the hell out of it, play it too death, thats what it's there for. Andif it breaks down, which eventually it will, everything breaks down over time, just get it fixed or replaced, your worrying too much.

Exactly. I bought mine in Dec 06, no problems thus far thankfully. To add what was said earlier, it would be grat if they all never had a problem. But the issue that everyone overlooks is yes, if your 360 is broke, and under warranty, you get it fixed, and for the most part, it will work after that. Anyone remember having a ps2 that would not read cd's after 2weeks/2months/2years of play. Once that thng went, it was almost impossible for me or Sony to fix it. Don't get me wrong i'm not a Sony hater either. I just think the Xbox has its problems, but many easy solutions. And BS posts like this only add to the confusion and frustrate new and potential customers.

It really bothers me hearing all these problems with the 360. I have had mine for almost a year, and havent had a single problem. Ocassionally I will have some slow downs or my 360 may suddenly crash, but those are rare occassions. I never really worried too much, since I have a gamestop PRR plan. However, now that the plan is almost expired, im starting to wonder, "should I be worried?"

Stop worrying about it and play your 360. Its like buying new shoes and keeping them in the closet because you are afraid of getting them dirty(whats the point). My house is kept between 76 and 78, my 360 has been ran up to 12 hours without any problems. I once got the three rings of death but didnt have time to send it in. I left it alone for a few weeks and came home one day tried it and the three rings were gone. Not sure how or why but I have not had a problem since(knock on wood). Play have fun and worry about it if it breaks.
