I wouldnt even worry about it man, I mean back up your hard drive on it, but I ve had mine since gears came out, and havent had any probs with it, Except for the piece of crap Nyko fan I put on it, that thing broke in less than 2 weeks and it gave me the rings of death but once i took it off, its just been smooth sailing...even if it does overheat, just buy i new one, its only 400 bones...lol the hard part is affording the HDTV ;p ...peace

My brother had a Nyko fan. I asked him why and he said because he thought it was getting hot. His system did run a bit hot but I told him to take the fan off because hooking it into the power source of the 360 was a bad idea. He didnt listen and had to send it in. They fixed it and sent it back no ring of death. Two weeks later ring of death is back. I asked him if he used the fan and he said yes. I threw it away for him. Sent it in again and they gave him a new 360. Luckly there were no burn marks where the fan plugged into, if so they would have charged him.
I'm not with you as well, I mean I bought my 360 early this year with a warranty and have been playing it ever since, there's no problem, yet.. But if anything happens I still got my yearly warranty so if you have one you shouldn't wait, just hop on and play man.

[QUOTE="2ndWonder"]well if you kepp you xbox360 in a wellventilated area there would not be any heat problems

Wat he said plus don't play 24 / 7 . Playing 3 hrs maximum daily is fine ( at least thats wat i do out of fear of overheating my machine :p):)
Play for 3 hours only!
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
If I spend $400 on a gaming console, I should be able to play it 10 hours a day with zero problems if I want.
If we set those kind of standards for the console makers what will be next.
Results from or tests show thatyou should not keep your Xbox 720 powered one for no more than 1 hour per week.

I agree with u , but u see i'm bit scared of my Xbox 360 breaking down ( i've 1 yr warranty still .....) . When i got my First Xbox 360 i saw its DVD rom was not reading my games so i got it replaced with a new model which works fine now. But getting the new model was hassle for me like calling the shop again and again( from where i bought my Xbox 360 ) , then calling M/S Xbox 360 Toll Free nos ( Customer care ) and ultimately getting it replaced . Where i live i saw Customer service is not very strong . So i'm over cautios now ..... Thats all:)
I'm sorry, but if you didn't buy your system until Feb of 2007 (this year) and you say you didn't hear or read anything about the overheating problems or the red ring of death until after you bought your system, then your either a bold face liar, or you didn't look for any potential problems at all, because this issue has been well brought up among owners ever since the system launched.
I bought a premium in January of 06, I played the crap out of it, 6-10 hours a day on many occasions when my wife and I would play something together over the weekends, or I just couldn't sleep at night, it got used heavily. My home is climate controled at around 72 degrees, and I take good care of my electronics, and the the 360 had open air and occasionally a fan pointed at it, but never a freeze up, a DRE, or any red lights of any kind in overyear, I sold it in perfect condition for 350 bucks, I got an Elite on launch day on April 29th, and have been enjoying it trouble free ever since,
I'm not stupid. and I'm not about to say that the 360 doesn't run too hot, I would much prefer it ran cooler, but it is nonsense that you cannot play the thing, Far more systems are out there running well, than have failed and needed to be repaired or replaced, if you take care of it, there is no reason to assume it will fall apart and break in two months, or whatever. But an extended warranty is never a bad idea. I always buy a 2 year replacement plan when I buy something new, but I guess a lot of people would just rather frantically post on message boards and not play thier console in fear of it dieing.
CALL "1800 4MY XBOX" and ask tell them you want to buy a warrenty, buy the 2 Year Warrenty for $60.00

So, you are actually playing it less then you want because you are scared it breaks down? And you don't see something wrong with that?
loll, this whole thread it crazy. If there's nothing wrong with your 360, why are you worrying. I've had mine since launch and I heard about all the break downs and 3 rings of death, so for precautionary reasons, I bought a core system. So I have 2 right now, the first one which was the premium and a back core system just in case. I play my 360 like a madman when I can. I play for 4, 5 , 6 hours sometimes on the weekends or if I have the day off, etc.... I never had any problems at all, I still have the core in the box, never opened it at all. If you have a system thats running fine, why are you so scared, enjoy the hell out of it, play it too death, thats what it's there for. Andif it breaks down, which eventually it will, everything breaks down over time, just get it fixed or replaced, your worrying too much.SmoothBrother1
Exactly. I bought mine in Dec 06, no problems thus far thankfully. To add what was said earlier, it would be grat if they all never had a problem. But the issue that everyone overlooks is yes, if your 360 is broke, and under warranty, you get it fixed, and for the most part, it will work after that. Anyone remember having a ps2 that would not read cd's after 2weeks/2months/2years of play. Once that thng went, it was almost impossible for me or Sony to fix it. Don't get me wrong i'm not a Sony hater either. I just think the Xbox has its problems, but many easy solutions. And BS posts like this only add to the confusion and frustrate new and potential customers.
