So, my Xbox 360 just broke for the 4th time now. I had a warranty from Gamestop for whenever it breaks, I can just take it back and get a new one. Well, supposedly they are still out of stock with Xbox 360s from Christmas. That's a load of crap. They say they might not get a new order until next week...

From what I've heard, they supposedly put a new sort of chip in the recently made Xbox 360s that I guess, help it from from "breaking". I havn't even been able to keep an Xbox360 for a year without it breaking. Does anyone know about this new "chip" they put in to prevent it from somewhat breaking?

The chip doesnt help, its been in for sometime now and the new units like the old ones are dying. Get used to Gamestop, you'll be seeing it often.

I've had mine break twice. First time was one red light, Error 74, it took them two months to get it back to me. Now the second time was a couple weeks ago, three red lights. MS wants $100 to repair it, but I've only had my 360 for a year. I thought they gave everyone a three year warrenty for the red ring...

That's the one thing I really hate about 360's is they break so dam much. I have to send mine out to Microsoft again. Twice it broke on me. When will they fix the xbox 360's problems.

Its all about the heat and placement of not only the 360 but also the power supply. Sorry I bought a console at launch and still kicking. I would like to ask in a nice way if you have ever played the system for more than 6 hours at a time? Do you turn it off and back on after a freeze? you should give it a 15 min break. I have my 360 sitting on top of a table not on a shelf or in an entertainment system. Sure maybe M$ should have had better cooling but if you want to play your 360 with out worrying about it breaking then I suggest you think about my post. As for the guy who said the new chips have been sold for some time now doesnt know what hes talking about. If you dont like it then by all means buy a PS3 and quit bashing a console you dont know how to handle.

yeah I am very careful with my 360. I don't play it that much. I don't leave it on when I'm not around. No matter what you do, it's just a matter of time I think. There's no invincible 360. Is MS working to make the 360 reliable, or are they juts focusing on repairing broken 360s.

There was something a few weeks ago, some Microsoft insider leaking information about the RROD incidents and he said something along the lines of there is a small percentage of 360s even from launch that will never break while the vast majority will. Don't know the truthfullness of that because it was some anonymous tipster but if his hasn't broken in over two years more power to him. I don't see why people have to come down on people who still have a launch console just because yours broke.

I feel for those that have multiple breaks (I have friends), but I have a launch console too that has never broken. To say its a matter of time is not always true. My console gets treated very well (read: plenty of space and its NEVER moved), so maybe that does have something to do with it.

Well the thing is, now they did away with the warranty at Gamestop, and now I'll have to deal with Micro$oft and send down to Texas or wherever when/if it breaks again. This is ridiculous.Marksman249

I am now on my fourth 360 and I exchanged the first 3 thru gamestop. On the last exchange he told me I couldnt buy another in store warrenty and that Microsoft wouldn't let them do it anymore. So yes, if my fourth one breaks I will now have to send it in. SUCKS!!!! But the new one I did get has HDMI and the falcon chip in it. I have noticed that it runs quieter and much much cooler. So hopefully this is my last xbox.

Dude its a $400 system from one of the biggest companies in the world....you shouldn't have to baby the system. I'm on my 4th one now and I kept all of them well ventilated. I have never had a problem with any gaming system since I started gaming in 1982. The 360 is the only system i've ever had to take back to the store. Only one got the RROD, the other two were disc drive issues. I'll just accept the fact that microsoft makes great games, but makes the worst hardware. Well I got super mario galaxy to last me if my 4th 360 breaks.

HDMI is a type of digital cable used to transfer video and sound. Before that, you could only use VGA or component to get high def out of your 360. The HDTV I have can only accept 1080P thru HDMI, and now that I have a new one....I can tell you that 1080P thru HDMI blows away 1080i thru component. I thought it was going to be close, but its not...I can tell a major difference.
