Ok, so I'm getting an Xbox360 on December 25th

(p.s. that's Christmas if you forgot)

And like all anticipated people with a LOT of free time do, I've been watching videos on Gamespot and Youtube.

And on Youtube I came across a LOT of videos about a "red ring of death". It made me terrified that it could happen to my Xbox360 when i get it :?

So just wondering what you people think, since most of you probably already have a 360, and maybe you've heard of it...

Like do any of you have tips maybe how to prevent it? Thanks.

Oooooh, P.S.- I'm getting Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, and Oblivion IV with it for Christmas from other people.

Plus 2 games bundled with it.

I also have 120 bucks at EBgames to spend, plus I'll probably have another 100 bucks in giftcards to the place,

So does anyone have ideas on good games to buy??

Dont worry about problems, you can always send it back if it goes that bad, but you should be fine

Too look after it, just keep it away from other appliances so it doesn't heat up but try not to worry

and if you move it make sure you take out the disk! :)

every 360 owner is worried about it, and it's bound to happen one day. Happened to me 3 times already and I got it at christmas of 2006. my 360 is well ventilated and everything.RJB1994

I'm not. And it hasn't happened to me and it probably won't if you treat your console well and don't overuse it. My PS2 still works and it was one of the first released, everybody complains PS2s die but they don't treat their consoles well.

Personally, I've had my 360 since 1 day before launch and never once had any problem or a red ring of death. I woudn't worry to much about that.

And for the two other games, Call of Duty 4 is a must buy and I'd say it's a toss up before Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect.

Jeff = Sacked for saying Kane and Lynch was a bad game. Cnet was paid a lot for advertising. He deserved it, he gave bad games good reviews in the past.

the 360 is still having RRoD issues, it seems to be less common now.

but if you do happen to get it, ms has you covered...tho its going to suck dealing with customer service.

other than aliens and guns theres very little in common between halo and mass effect.

mass effect feels more like starwars than halo.

Do you know the cause of the RROD? It is the warping of the PCB due to heat or impact, this in turn causes components to lose contact with the circuit. The old chipset produced much more heat than the latest chipset which means that the later consoles are better..

Okay. This topic ends here. No more posts. We don't care if your 360 is broken.

Just take as good care of it as you possibly can, and also (since you'll have all that extra cash) get a 3-year warranty in case the red ring of death actually does happen. Then your Xbox 360 should be safe and protected in case anything bad happens.

Anyway, enjoy your Xbox 360 when you get it. I know I did, and currently am with not a single scratch on the fine black-colored surface ;)

My brother got RROD, and he was able to take the broken 360 to the game trading store. He got enough money for it that he bought the elite for only 120$ more.

Also I guy I know that repairs them said that they get broke if you watch too many dvd's, because the disc drive isn't intended to be constantly spinning for spans of an hour or more. even though it has the capability.

um regarding the dude that asked about guitar hero...

i am still planning on getting guitar hero 3 instead of rock band because i dont feel like wasting money if im only planning on playing the guitar part..

and also i havent played any other guitar hero games, so im new to it and all....hopefully it wont be too hard as long as i keep it on easy. i played it at my friends and was terrible :p

and COD4 doesnt look very interesting, even though everyone raves its the best thing since sliced bread, but im not too in to the war shooter games, they just dont interest me :/
