I'm sorry but I just don't like Oblivion

I really tried to enjoy this game. I really did. But just couldnt. Everyone seems to love it, but after playing it through for a few hours I just can't see what kept people hooked...Damn_Badgers

im in the same boat as you... rpgs aren't my thing i guess. unless its like GTA hehe

I wish my fiance had that same point of view. Unfortunately she has hijacked the TV after getting hooked on it :(

oblivion is a great game. I'm not a big rpg fan but i was hook on oblivion.mpgchulo

Sad to say I AM a big RPG fan...but I found Oblivion to be just 'ok' and not what others think greatly of it. Then I found out the new classifications of the RPG genre: JRPGs & WRPGs so my RPG type is JRPGs after all (turn based, party system) But I did try to love Oblivion...but I just can't.

I thought this game was brilliant when I first played it. But after I beat the dark brotherhood and various other main quests/missions I grew tired of it.

There's only really one type of RPG that can ever be done correctly...and that my friend is a Japanese or Sqauresoft/Enix RPG (more Squaresoft than Enix -- Enix hasn't really amazed me yet).

Im not an RPG gamer, but I played the crap out of oblivion. with a long pause between the sessions though.

I do think all the caves, ruins and the cyrodill world in general looks pretty much same where ever you go.

The gamesplay in Oblivion is perfect. Practically the Best RPG gamesplay of all time.

However Oblivion's story is beyond awful. Why are there aliens in Medieval times?

All in all the game is a fun rental, but little more.

ditto, i just dont understand the appeal there. If i wanted an action game, i'd get an action game, not an RPG.

Maybe because I wanted to know what the fans of the game loved so much about it. Maybe because it hadat first seemed like everyone I knew loved Oblivion and I was trying to see if pretty much everyone else thought the same. It was just a question, if you don't like the thread you can bugger off, but really there is nothing here for you to be offended by. Unless of course you are one of thesecrazy fans who will probably hunt me down for saying this. Again I'm sorry for any offence. :D

I haven't played Oblivion yet...I played Morrowind and hated that, but I've heard that Oblivion is different enough that I should give it a chance. I can totally see what you mean, though.

I wasn't actually angry; just keen to express my viewpoint. But really I do not see the issue with the posting of this thread.

There is so much spam and repetition of threads on these forums that I would hardly call this thread a complete waste of time. Also there are many other threads just like this; such as several I have seen about people saying that they just dislike Halo 3 and don't see the appeal. Those threads don't receive any objection from the community here, except for maybe the Halo 3 fans who disagree with the statements made. But really I don't understand the issue with this thread and why it didn't need to be posted. The point of it was to express that I did not like the game, and wanted to see what the many fans of the game liked about it, and what made it great for them. Again I am sorry that you had to report me for my conduct, but I really feel I have done nothing wrong, except for usage of a minor profanity....

lol...thats funny because I just told my cousin they should remake that game on a current gen system. I feel they should have been did a full out RPG instead of the stadium battle type stuff they put out.

I did the same thing w/ WoW. I tried hard. All my friends played it but I couldnt force my self to enjoy it. Quit and came back about 4 times and still couldnt stand to look at it. To each his own.
