I am thinking about buying a 360 but I wonder if it will still have technical problems becuase I dont want to keep fixing a broken 360. And which bundle should I get, just the system or the platinum edition? (i think that;s what you call the bundled one?)

if you get one, get the premium for sure. get a warranty to be safe, its worth it. the problems seem to be slowing a tad.

pay for an extended warranty along with your X360.  its the safest thing to do... and if you have enough money to drop $500 for the console/accessories/a game or two, paying $40 for 1-2 year extended warranty should not be a problem.

Get a premium or elite and get a warrenty just in case. The number of problems has gone down and I have had mine for more than a year and it hasn't broken.

Problems are still there, and now with the elites starting to die and the occational HDDVD drive, makes you want to consider rethinking.

The Xbox 360 ruined my life. Here is my horrible story...........

I was 11 years old on Christmas Day getting an xbox 360. I was so happy but it started a fire and destroyed my home killing my dog. But i had a warrany......

I wanted my dad to get me a game Bomber Man. My dad played and it was so bad, he left my mom and I.

My mom ditched me to go live with the neighbors to go play the Wii.

i got Xbox Live. I thought i met this really cool dude so I invited him to my house. I thought he was 12 but he was 35 and he raped me.

The Xbox 360 ruined my life and that was my story.

I just bought my 360 about a week ago the 20 gig one and the only problem i've notice is that it get hotbut if you put it in the open it will be just fine warm not boling hot!!i wanted to buy a ps3 but then i seen the roster for the games coming out ang it lok like blah blah to me ..think about it microsoft has fps lock down ,the have one of square enix top dogs working for them to make jrpg's for this system ..devil may cry is no longer an exclusive for the ps3 ffx111 is not a exclusive it being develope on the white engine in other words it might be even on pc's or even the wii..lol..mgs4 is no longer a exclusive konami is not a fan related company it where the money and 360 have more users than ps3 so don't wish for mgs because it's coming ..blue ray is really not worth anything besides maing a lot of data fit onto one disc..i don't mind changing disc playing rpgs on the 360 it reminds me of the old ps1 games ..360 cheaper so go for it!!the ps3 might be thebig dog when it comes to power but it's not user friendy when making games for it..bill gates got his wish he set foot in the gaming industry it took the crapy xbox to make a path for the future bu 360 is looking good as far as the list of games go for it..magna carta 2 is coming out for it as well check out the video on youtube it's looking good!!

Get it if you want it. Things break all the time and we fix them. Worry about it when it (or even if) it breaks. You live once, take some chances.

WOW - they really need to make a sticky for this topic.  Seems like everyday there is a new "I want a 360 but..."

that goes on to ask if there are still technical issues.  :)

Definitely should be a sticky.

I'm also waiting a few months for the new chips. The overheating issue with current 360's is pretty bad (5% of 12 million consoles that needed repair mainly due to overheating is 600,000 thus far).

That's more then a 'little' risky in my book. If a car had that kind of reliability no one in their right mind would buy it. I guess that's why Microsoft signed a contract to have the new chips produced back in April of 2006...they know they have a serious problem, but of course play it cool and downplay the problem. It's a good business approach but their desire to develop those new chips asap isn't fooling me.

Overheating isnt the reason for repeairs. The only way that could be an issue is if the inside the case was reaching 100+ degrees, and if that was happening your case and table would start to warp.
