the problem is i'm scaired of all the technical problems (red rings of death, overheating, disc scratching, failure rate of 30%..)

I suggest you read up on some of the articles in recent news. The newer consoles are not so known for their problems, especially the newer consoles with the HDMI ports. The manufactures warranty covers the unit for 3 years now. And you could buy it from a store whichi offers an extended warranty (I got mine from Sam's Club, with a 3 year extended warranty). And get 6 years of coverage like me.
The problems are extremely exagerated.
RROD asside, disk read issues and other stuff is on the same level as the PS3 or Wii.
The RROD effects MAYBE 5% of newer consoles. Even when it does, it's really not a big deal. Yeah, you lose your console for 2 weeks, it's annoying, but it's not that bad.
RROD is no reason to avoid the 360. I have 2 in my house, my father has one, my mother does (they like Bomberman.. Yes, they paid 350$ so they could get Bomberman Live which they once played at my house), my friend does.
Only one of them had RROD, and that was my old one, which was a first generation model, which were far more likely to RROD. It was after 2 years.
From the first phone call to the day I got it back, the whole process of fixing it was 6 days.
It was really no big deal. Don't avoid the 360 because of it.
[QUOTE="kratos_q80"]RROD still exist and still a curse on the consolePiNwOrM
Who are you gunna believe? 'kratos' or the people who actually have a 360?
*shrug*
I have to agree, I've had my 360 for a while now and I've never had any problems with it. People shouldn't be put off by all the media hype surrounding a few technical glitches. It's an amazing console with some great (some exclusive) games.
so if i get a new xbox 360 that was made in 2008 the failure rate will only be 5-10% and rrod will not be an issue?
i wonna be sure that my new console will last for at least 3 years b4 breaking (i take very good careof my consoles) so will it most likely last for 3 years?

ImpexYes, it does.
Mmh. Define often. Like I said I've had no problems with mine...

I've yet to have an Xbox that isn't faulty. The one I have now is god awful. It scratches my disks, gets random errors for whatever reason, and the disk trey hardly ever works. So, yeah... 0 for 3 baby!
The 360's warranty garuntees you don't have to worry buying a console because of the 3 red rings for 3 years. By comparison, I went through 4 ps2's in 3 years, and had to buy every one of them. My launch 360 lasted 18 monthes, I've had my replacement for almost a year now and it runs fine.so if i get a new xbox 360 that was made in 2008 the failure rate will only be 5-10% and rrod will not be an issue?

But Wait
Do you guys remember the BIG scene over the RROD
But I heard that microsoft fixed this so I went and bought one, BUT I bought an ELITE I heard it's better and it was more $$$ so i said oh!! that means it's better because with the HDMI and the black color.
Long story short I put a cooler or fan on it and I never had problems
But one time I took the fan off and there it goes:shock: THE RROD, I have read everywhere and it said that Elites don't have this problem, I bought mines after 2 months win it came out in April.
What a bummer:(
ok im not gonna rexplain it again so ill summarize
new 360 since lat 07 - falcon chip - runs cooler - rrod not problem anymore.Mikee3
Im thinking you better explain as people like me just dont quite believe your story.. I see threads every day with new consoles dying. Its still happening. It will always happen, I dont care how many dumb sku# "models" they come out with. Its a faulty product all the way around.
Just called MS to send me a coffin for my RROD from last night....360 is junk when it was launched...360 is junk a year from launch....360 is still junk nearly 3 years later..fact.
I say just go for it and buy one. What is the worst that can happen? It breaks and you get it repaird for free. You dont have to worry. I was worrying but bought one and i love it. Xbox 360's are too good to just dismiss them, you need to find out for yourself like i did, its all about taking risks in the world of gaming! lol ;) x
