Wow, listen to this folks, Gamespot just posted this....basically, people who get Gears of War UE on XOne before the end of the year, will get the entire Gears of War collection on the 360, free. These older games have been confirmed as being BC on XOne through this news.

In anticipation of the people who will enter this thread to downplay this news, I will say this: Regardless if you played these game a lot or not on the 360, having them all as digital BC titles on your XOne is still pretty cool, should you feel the need to replay some of them. And for newcomers to the series, well this is simply incredible news.

The only thing I wish would happen, is giving these games to people now, at least for people who preordered the UE, they get to dabble in them prior to release. I hope they are not released too far ahead of the UE version. Anyways, here is the story !:

"

Play Ultimate Edition by New Years and you'll get backwards compatible versions of Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgement.

by Eddie Makuch on August 3, 2015

GameSpot

Microsoft has announced a nice new incentive for the upcoming Gears of War Ultimate Edition.

Everyone who plays the Ultimate Edition before New Years will receive a free copy of every other Gears of War console game released to date for play on Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

That means the Ultimate Edition, if you buy it soon enough, actually comes with these four games.

This is part of the Ultimate Edition's $40 price tag; it doesn't cost extra. It sounds like a nice way to catch up on the story so far in the run-up to Gears of War 4's launch next holiday.

Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment are not remastered, however. You're getting a copy of the game made playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility, just like the "hundreds" of other games that will be available this fall when the feature rolls out to all Xbox Live users. It's currently in test for select users."

Who doesn't like receiving some sort of usable bonus with a purchase? If my calculations are correct, this will be the third compilation released on the X1. All we need now is a Dead Rising and Batman Arkham Series compilations and most bases will be covered.

Interesting timed offer promotion for those that don't have the games. I own all the physical copies but I also have three of the four of these games just due to GWG as I own every GWG game ever released.

GeoW 1, GeoW3, and GeoW:J for 360 have already been free with GWG. They are throwing in GeoW 2 and this deal is for a limited time making it not too expensive for M$ considering GWG previously but at the same time a unique way of showing off BC. It's a good deal for those new the the series who also never got the GWG releases.

It looks like you need to play the remastered GeoW1 game over Xbox Live during a certain time, which is a good way to promote XBL subscriptions as well, but if one has XBLG they may be like me and already got GeoW1, 3, and J due to XBLG's GWG. People like me would stand to get GeoW2 DD for free, still good though.

Since I already own the GeoW games and played the GeoW Remastered Beta, I'm just not paying more than $20 for a game I own, remastered or not, just like my rules last gen. Since this is a timed offer deal, I'll just have to be content with my 4/4 physical copies and 3/4 GWG copies.

I came here just to post this. The Just Cause deal will have the same issue.

Yep, exactly. JC3 comes with JC2 360 DD which I already got JC2 from GWG back in June this year of 2015.

Not to mention I got physical copies of JC1 / JC2, JC2 on Steam, and JC2 from PS+ back in June 2012 three years ago.

It's nice that they are throwing in JC2 360 free with JC3 $60 purchase for Xbone, but the incentive doesn't work for any recent XBLG subscribers especially since JC2 was a GWG freebie just two months ago.

I wish the incentive was different for JC3 Xbone for those reasons above, but maybe this is to help sell more Xbones to newbies to the brand rather than reward those of us that already have been with Xbox.

While I agree, I do wonder if it's enough of a difference to get new purchasers who didn't/don't have Gold to choose an X1 over the PS4 this holiday season. I hope so.

That remains to be seen. It's a nice bonus for new buyers for sure, but it doesn't help those of us already in the Xbox fold. It doesn't cost SE much I guess and good publicity helps sell games.
