Yeah that box is unsually missing alot of plastic and is made from a thinner plastic than compared to the normal green box you get.
A few of my friends disk have broke straight from the box. I have mine in an older game box, just transfered the art and manual.
My game isn't broken yet, but I have to agree that the case selection companies are using is bothering me. I have noticed not only do we get less protective plastic (they cut out the rest to make a recycle logo) but the spindle which holds the disc is very grabby and the disc doesn't pop away as easy as it should. I have several games now with little splits coming out from the middle due to the fact that the game disc bends when trying to remove it. Before you make any rude comments, I should let you know that I look after all my games. I put them in the case after every use and I have all my cases and manuals in tip top condition with exception to the couple of discs that got this split. Lets hope they start making better cases in the future.
It's because most people remove the disc the wrong way. You have to push the push pin in the middle down before removing the disc. Plus it seems the plastic in the middle of the disc are cheaply made. Why they leave it like that? I don't know..maybe they like making the additional money off of people buying the same disc again. Probably love that $20 replacement fee that I think is charged. (at least that's Microsoft's policy for their disc)Me and a lot of my friends' MW2 discs broken from the case. Anyone else?

It's not Infinity Ward's decision on what case it will use, that's all M$. BTW the cases for Red Dead and Alan Wake are the standard cases so M$ might be giving up on the eco friendly cases already. nate_c-12And they can fix it but they choose not too. There really shouldn't be a certain way to remove disc if you ask me, you should just be able to remove it from a damn case without worrying about anything. But unfortunately I think they like the extra money it generates to buy replacements (especially if it's a Microsoft game).
my case is real ****** up, doesnt have any of the game information on the back
and it somehow turned into steel
wait...
I don't think it is MS that is making games go in those cases, i think it is the publisher that decides and Alan Wake doesn't have that kinda case.
BTW i don't have this problem because i got the harden edition of MW2 =)
any new games I get that come in those cases, I just swap cases with an older game that I no longer play. Just to be safe

LOL! This is exactly what I do when I get a new game with crappy box or a hard-to-remove sticker.
They make videogame cd wallets now with a plastic slipcover pocket for the manual and a pocket for the game disc. They look good, display game art to good effect and they save you game discs from this issue. They also save shelf space.El_Zo1212o
firstly, where do you get these videogame cd wallets, with space for the manual and everything, i had a look after reading ur post but couldnt find them online anywhere, i could really do with saving he shelf space, im running out fast
second, i have loads of friends that play MW2 and i none of them have ever broken the disk on the case, maybe they use a different box design over here in Europe, or maybe you are all just doing it wrong?
its probably because ur not taking ur disc out properly? i mean when u remove it from the case u have to push down on the center and not just rip it out.... u can't blame a developer cuz u and ur friends don't no how to take a disc out LightColori know how to take out a disc im not an idiot its the box

and yet, somehow u and ur friends managed to break the disc? stop blaming the box, its bad thats true, but it won't break the disc if taken out and put back in properly, in my experience n wayz
yeah i've noticed these BS cases on a lot of games lately. Except the Red Dead Redemption case is friggin' NICE. ALL game cases should be like Red Dead's, thick plastic, perfect spindle in the middle. damn, you just gotta love it when you get a good case.
and i'm being completely serious too, in case anyone wondered. i'm obsessed with my cases, hahaha

well its not like the disc craks in half, its just the ring in the middleMy friend's disk broke. I dunno if it's from the box though. I don't understaqnd why MW2 would be any worse, the boxes aren't all mass produced by the same people O.o I didn't know individual developers had their own boxes or anything
