Hi my xbox 4g slim is just out of warranty now and im trying to be a bit more cautious . I want to clean it and keep it cooler . Because from the start it was always hot but now i actually care. And sudjestions.

If youre saying it gets really hot above the big fan vent on the top (if horizontal).. dont worry, thats a good thing, its pushing the heat out of the console. As for cleaning, just keep it as dust free as possible.

if you want to keep you slim cooler then buy the intercooler they sell for it, it locks into the vents ontop and sucks all the hot air out and pushes it out through the front so the fans in the back dont suck it back in. its quite to the point where you wont know when its on, and it cools down your system so much that you wouldnt even think it was on. iv searched around after playing for a few hours and still couldnt find a hot spot, and the top of my slim use to get super hot.

Does it plug in via usb on your consOle or using a seperate outlet. Beacuase i read the o nes that use the usb suck to much power from the 360

exactally what i do+take a swiffer dust pad and every once and a while give it a dusting+once every 2-3 months give it a GOOD dusting everywhere and the console should last you for a long time

The vaults are pretty awesome for getting good airfow as well.

ya it plugs into one of hte usb ports in the back. the wire is pretty unnoticable too, its in a rubber housing and also hooks onto the console

Intercoolers are a waste of money. The only way you could make the console run cooler is by replacing the stock fan with a more powerful one. By adding another fan on top of it you're only disturbing the airflow and making things worse. Do not mess with the console.
