Just thought I would pass along a tip:

About a month ago my screen keep freezing up everytime I tried to play any game. Then I got the 3 red rings of death a day later. My system was purchased in March 06 and this happened in May 07. So I called in and they said sorry your warranty has expired and if I wanted to have it repaired it would be $149. So I hung up the phone mad. Why should I have to pay $149 to have something fixed that is only a little over a year old and is due to a hardware failure?

I then filed a complaint with the better business bureau that serves the area that Microsoft is located in. And within 24 hours someone from Microsoft called me and said that my system would be repaired as an in warranty repair and that when I got it back they would give me an additional 90 day warranty.

So I suggest that anyone having this problem contact the better business bureau that serves Washington state. Here is a link to the website:

www.thebbb.org

File your complaint against Microsoft Corp. Maybe if everyone starts doing this then Microsoft will have to step up and do something about the high failure rate of the 360. Hope this help save some of you the $149. Let me know how it turns out.

Later,

Kel

Good for you man. You should NOT have to pay them to fix their faulty hardware. 3 red lights=hardware failure. There is nothing you could have done to prevent it, so you should NOT be liable for it.

I would try the American BBB site first if I was you. Since Microsoft is located in Washington I would think you should be able to. But I'm not 100% sure. Hope it works out for you.

Hopefully it will help some people out. I just think it's crazy to spend so much money on a system just to have it crap out a year later. And then Microsoft won't even stand behind their product unless you get a third party like the BBB involved.

And by the way I am glad people on here are friendly. I posted the same info on Planet Xbox and was made fun of and told that my post didn't make any sense. I may not be the best writer, but I didn't think what i said was that difficult to figue out was it? :?

I remember when getting a new console (for a faulty one) was as easy as putting it back in the box and heading over to Wal-Mart! I went through THREE PS2's (disc drive kept quitting) but I just kept going to Wal-Mart and they hooked me up everytime! They are a bit tighter now though...
