anyone know how you're supposed to go about removing the ripped game after you've installed one without deleting your save data?
I just deleted my Fable 2 save data after thinking I was removing the ripped game data. I had just beat the game too! I'm so pissed.Â
Think about it man, if they let you play the game without the disc there would be nothing to stop your 5 or 10 ten friends from taking the game to their house and ripping it for free. That means the developers and publishers get screwed, and they obviously don't want that. As far as what it does, you get faster load times and your 360 runs much, much more quietly. But probably the most important thing that it does is save your disc drive. You only have to have the game in it to prevent piracy, the system doesn't actually use it at all.
That said, when most 360's die it is because of a problem with the drive, so by not using the drive you are taking a lot of wear and tear issues out of the equation. Less wear and tear means fewer busted boxes, and that is WELL worth it to me since I have been through a lot.

Why are you already deleting it, you must have just ripped it today....? And besides when I looked the save data and game data are two distinct things on the memory list so yeah....
I installed it to see how much space it took up, and it took up something like 6 gigs, which was a waste considering I had beaten it and only have 9 gigs left on my 20 gig hard drive.
I definitely don't have two separate things though. When I go under memory, there is not "save data" or "game data", it's just listed under "Games". There was only one listing for Fable 2 as well. I wonder if I have to go back in to where you hit "install game to hard drive", maybe it changes to "uninstall game". Can anyone check before I delete another game save?Â

When I click on the game in the games list of the memory section it comes up with an itemized list of all the different saves and what not for that game. If I remember correctly you should find a BIG one in there that just says "game". That's the one you want to delete.
I find it hilarious that people actually think you can install the game and not need the disc anymore. PlasmaBeam44
Me too! Â All my friends kept saying "duEd im gonna rent gaems from blockbuster and install them and take them baek!!" Â Idiots.Â

ugghhh you're probably right. I just wish I would have known beforehand. I'm so bummed right now. I really wanted to try to save up to buy the castle, and now I have to spend hours on this game again just to get to the point I was at. I almost feel like selling it. In all my years of gaming, I don't think this has ever happened to me.
whats the point of doing this thenII-TAGGART-II
it's supposed to make the game load faster, i kinda figured there would be no way to play games without the disc itself, it would defeat the purpose of owning the actual disc --> which doesn't make sense for company that wants to sell u games

lol sorry man if you want I can give you some dough to get you started again in Fable my GT is CROSSEYED JIM. OTherwise sorry we didn't talk sooner lol.
Not that I encourage this, but I wonder how long it will take for someone to create an "All Purpose" DVD that will fool the 360 into thinking the game disc is inside, so all you need to do is keep one disc in at all times.

For PC games, I always got the NO CD crack to allow me the freedom of just launching the game without needing the CD/DVD.I also swear I do own the games too, but I doubt anyone would believe me.Please Log In to post.
