The benefits you may get are shorter load times and possibly some smoother game play, depending on the game.

they want to to install it on ur hard drive so that it lowers loading screens, makes ur xbox work less to find the info it needs to run the game so the sound from it is reduced and less likely to heat up.

I still think it is stupid to install on the hard drive. It uses up bout 4 gigs of space and for the people who only have 20 gig they is alot. I have a 120 and I still don't want to do it because it is jst stupid. Microsoft should make a deal so that you can install so many games onto ur hard drive and play them without the disc and then you pay so that you can play more games without the disc.

installing onto the hard drive jst takes up to much space and doesn't give enough back to make up for the lost space. Ppl say that microsoft would lost money but lets be honest ppl they get money almost every month because we pay for xbox live and then we have to pay for almost every feature they offer. They would lose money but not enough to make them lose business

Also, installing games onto your hard drive makes the game run quieter. That's my only major beef with the 360-- it's noisy when it runs games that aren't installed on your hard drive.

Many games have performance increases, and the disc isn't spinning, so the system runs smoother and the disc drive doesn't take all the wear and tear.

I install every game(unless the devs say you shouldn't Halo etc.) and it's so worth it, performance is better, loading times shorter and the lack of wear on the Xbox itself can only do good things.

I have installed all my games including except Fable II which is made to run of the disc faster. Fable II is the only game I found that recommends not installing.

Installing also greatly reduces wear and tear on your disc drive, prolonging it's life.

I do it all the time

For what i understand, the disc doesn't spin when youre playing the game

It checks the disc to make sure you own it, thats all

No disc spinning means less chance of disc drive breaking (and if you're disc drive's fate is doomed to break in the future at the very least you're delaying that breaking), you can play games without the terribly loud noises 360s make reading discs, and less heat is made from spinning the disc so less heat up inside your 360

this is what i think are the benefits, if i'm wrong sorry

to stop piracy. its main intention is that the 360 does not run as loud.
