Installing a scratched game

So i recently bought battlefield bad company 2 only to have my xbox 360 knocked down with it in it. Now its got the perfect circle scratch. I heard if you borrow a copy and install it, your scratched disk will be enough. I was wondering if any of you have done this .

I think it still works, as it identifies the game, although some parts of the game may not work if you were to play the game off the disc

As someone said, get another copy of the game and install it. Then just put your copy in and play it.
