When this new dashboard update comes out this fall, do you think that by installing games to your 360 you can avoid "Unreadable Discs." I honestly don't know why, but some of my games radomly say the disc is unreadable and I'm eally getting annoyed by it. I don't know if I should trade in my 360 or just wait for the update to see if installation of games could solve this problem. Have you all heard anything about this? Thanks in advanced.

I won't be using it. I don't care much for faster loading times. :P

If you only get that error once in a while I bet installing them might work. The disc will only have to verify each time you play at the beginning and won't be read the rest of the time.

the load times aren't usually that bad. I'm not going to be using that feature. Also I remember the day that your signature happened

I have the 20 gig and I will not be using that feature. I have plenty of space for a game but, as the above poster said, you are still putting the disk in and its chewing up a lot of room. I'm probably going to be picking up a 120gig later on and even then I doubt I will try it.

I think it's an awesome feature, but I probably won't use it much since I only have a 20 gig hard drive.

It's a good idea to use it for the game or two you use the most since it will help save your disc drive. And it will of course save on load times for your favorite game or two.

Only if I get a new HDD, as of right now I have almost no space left on my 360.

Yeah, it'll probably stop unreadable disc errors, but only if you don't encounter the disc read error while the installation is happening. I don't really care much about faster load times (except in Forza 2 and GTA4), the main reason I'm gonna install a game is to not hear that DVD drive. That's why it's my most awaited feature of the update.

with the 120 GB I'm going to use it, but I also have a PS3 and haven't noticed a significant increase in load times on games that give you an optional install (like Soul Calibur 4). But, I have room to spare and what can it hurt? Less spinning = greater disc reader life on a spin life cycle scale, so I don't mind the install.

People, he's not asking whether you'll use it or not, he's asking whether it will get rid of disc-read errors. I'm betting it'll definitely help. I suggest waiting for hte update to come out and see.

it's faster loadtimes and less framerate and texture issues.

the feature is really going to be used by people who own the 120 gig.

I'll only use the feature simply because I have so much space left on my 120GB hard drive but to answer the question no I don't believe this will stop the unreadable disc error.

I can't wait till this feature comes out. Dead Rising and Hitman Blood Money will certainly be less frustrating. Anyways I think this feature will help with the unreadable discs, however, I would have brought my 360 in by now if it had that problem.

Nope. I won't use it. I only have 8-7 GB left on my harddrive(Stupid 15 GB Harddrive). I would buy a new one if it wasn't $600 for a 20 GB.
