I just put Assassin's Creed 2 in my xbox for the first time, and I asked myself the same question I always do when I start to play a new game: should I install it?

Cuz I know that some games in the past run worse when you install them like Mass Effect and GTAIV, but those games came out around the time (or maybe even before) installing games on your xbox was made possible. So I'm not sure if games ever actually run worse when you install them any more.

So my question is obviously does AC2's load times suffer, improve, or stay the same when you install it, and do any current games load times suffer if you install them nowadays, or is that a thing of the past?

And yes, I know that installing games lengthens the life of your xbox cuz it doesn't heat up so much cuz the disc doesn't spin, so there's no need to mention that.

Thanks

I read that a while ago, but I didn't just hear that from one source, a lot of gaming sites were talking about how ME and GTA (among other games) load times and texture popin got noticably worse when you installed them. That was back when MS first released that update allowing people to install games

Installing some games works WONDERS, others not so much.

Try it out and see how it improves things!

Games like Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey, Borderlands, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Forza3 run alot better when installed, while games like Halo3 or NBA2k10 not so much.

I have a smaller HD on my 360 so I just install two games at a time, always the game that I play the most on my 360.

Yeah Mass Effect and GTA IV run alot better for me when installed... I've had Assassin's Creed 2 installed since I got it (haven't played it not installed) and it runs fine.

I always install my games. I think it really helps prolong your system and helps prevent the RRoD as much as it can. Plus, it takes away that awful jet-engine grinding noise from the drive and it does hasten loading times a lot. It just feels better and more comfortable playing off the HDD. But I think there are two or three games that you can't install. Halo 3's multiplayer comes to mind and Crackdown.

I agree with the general removal of jet engine noise with an installed game. My xbox doesn't sound like a couple of dragons fighting if i spend the extra 10 mins installing a game. Go for it if youve got the room on your hdd.

Me too. The noise is the primary reason. I'm usually only playing a couple of games concurrently, so I only keep those installed

This is so true.

Anyway, install the game or you may suffer because a lot of 360s like to scratch our games.

I wish I could install. Too bad my HDD is too small.
