well thats the problem the 360 does get hot thats why millions are sending in there system to get repaired so they can add a heatsink and obviously make it run quieter and cooler! so basically if i dont want to send it in then i would like a fan!charomid
No thats not why it breaks. It breaks because the heatsink on the GPU is crap. No fans in the world can stop that from happening if your heatsink is in bad shape.
Its like using a fan to put out a fire. Intercooler wont help if you got a 360 with a bad heatsink. Its a fact.Radiozo
omg finally im on these boards and all i hear is oh if you put a fan next to your 360 it will cool down so many people think its true. fact of the matter is the soulution has to be inside the 360 not out
Actually that's not true either. The reason the 360's get the 3ROD is because for starters the X-Clamp that holds the GPU heatsink in is very thin and flimsy and when the 360 gets real hot the clamp and the motherboard bake and bow a little. The stress of the warping of the two causes the X-Clamp not to hold the GPU heat sink tight enough to the GPU so the 360 gets too hot and gives a error. Another reason this happens is because the air shroud is also flawed, the side where the CPU is on is about 5x taller than the side of the GPU so more hot air gets sucked away from the CPU.
Leaving the GPU very hot. Also another design flaw that helps the 360 overheat is the GPU heatsink is directly over the DVD drive, and I mean right over it. So it cant breathe very well. I dont know who they got to design this system but I could have done alot better job and I dont even have a degree, just a high school diploma. I had to replace my X-Clamp with bots and lock nuts, washers that can go up and down a little to handle the stress of the warping. It wasn't fun either. I did this before the 3 year warranty came into effect.
