If you can afford a $400 360 then you can at least afford a $400 HDTV!  Hell I'll sell you mine for $300.

  • 27" CRT
  • 1080i native
  • 16:9, 4:3, Widescreen
  • HDMI, Component, Composite, S-video
  • 360 games look stunning on it I would post pics, but I don't own a digital camera
  • No nicks, scratches, dead pixels, only had it for 6 months and treated it like my baby!

it still looks awesome on an sdtv.  i have an hd at my house, and my parents don't.  when i took it home over christmas break, and when playing gears of war my family would say things like, "wow, that looks pretty cool."  or "those graphics are great, it's almost like a movie."  but when my roommates or friends see it on an hdtv they say things like, "holy damn, that looks incredible."  or "wow, i think i'm going to need to do whatever it takes to get one of those."

So to summarize:  it's still going to look better than any system you've seen on an sdtv, but it will blow everyone that sees it away on a good hdtv.

It still looks pretty good on SDTV, but if you want the full effect you'll have to go HD. A friend of mine plays his on a 27" SDTV....just played some R6:Vegas coop last night. My biggest complaint was the text was almost impossible to make out at a distance....I believe this is a known problem with some games, not sure if R6 is on the list or not. I'm sure it was mostly because I'm too spoiled with a much bigger screen and HDTV :)

I played my 360 on a:

15 inch SDTV

22 inch SDTV

17 inch monitor

32 inch HDTV

That's the order from worst to best. So If you have a computer monitor, even a small 17 inch one, it's still better than an SDTV. I suggest you go that route. The 360 works great on a computer monitor. You could even do 1080p.

ya i used a 13" sdtv for a few months until i upgraded to a 19" widescreen moniter, and graphically it looks great, but the only disadvantage is that the text is really, really, small and ahrd 2 read, but most games dont require u 2 read alot.... except for dead rising....that was annoying.....

I won't lie saying that hdtv is nice.  I got a 32 sova hdtv (cheap as hell), and there is a difference.

But I'm not going to say that SDTV is terrible.  You'll get to see some stunning particle effects like in lost planet or gears of war even on sd.  Its not necessary to play on HD and still have fun.

A PS3 is whole other matter.  The games look terrible on SD, I'm not sure why there's such a large difference.

If you are going to use a SDTV make sure to use the component cables instead of the composite. You'll notice a difference just between those two types of connections. It will hold you over till you get a HDTV...

No, the monitor doesn't have to be widescreen. I used a 17 inch fullscreen and I had to adjust it to get black bars on the top and bottom. Yes, it was small. Yes, it's still way better than a 20 inch SDTV.

It's much easier to read text in high def, even if the screen is 10 inches. Get the VGA cables, try it on both your SDTV and your monitor. If you prefer the SDTV it means that you're an idiot, but still, you can just return the cables.

It still looks great on an SDTV, it just looks even better in HD. Don't let the fact that you don't have HD deter you from enjoying 360 goodness :)

Two things, people keep saying SDTV but a SDTV is really a Standard Def television with a Digital tuner built in(anything 27" and up is mandated to have them now).

And you are a silly boy, component cables are analog connections that have been around for years.  Ofcourse you can use them on a standard television.  As well as an EDTV and HDTV.

The 360 really doesn't look too bad on an SD-TV....you can certainly see the better graphics. :)
