if you have doubts just hold off for a while longer. Me personally never got the add-on and went with blu-ray simply because of the studio support. Just save up, and when you feel more comfortable about your decision, you can by the player and a good few of movies to watch on it. haha
I used the following:

Just printed it out, cut off the extra stuff and handed it to the cashier. She gave me a Gift Card instead of taking the discount off the items, but that's fine with me.
Oh, and just a warning, your local CC may not accept that because it's a printout and says "no photocopies". But it worked for me. If that doesn't work, just drop by your local post office and grab one of the moving packs they give out for free. should be an actual coupon in there I'm told...
I love my hd-dvd add on player. I use it a lot more than my ps3 for hi definition movies. i would not worry about the format war. For the price you will get a lot of enjoyemnt out of it. If your really worried...just rent hd-dvds from netflix. Videodogg
what about renting from blockbuster?? oh wait that's right.. sorry had to.

What about your being able to use all the bonus features in movies come Oct on your older BluRay player? Oh wait, that's right.... sorry, I had to. Or did you not know that the BluRay format is getting a nice overhaul this fall that will render many players incapable of playing some of the stuff on newer discs?
I put a bunch ofinfo on the HDDVD drive and format in this thread: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25805974

What about the screen tearing that occurs on blu ray movies and the green and purple bars that come up every 20min or so. Don't even down play that because I have both a PS3 and a Samsung BP-1000. Oh wait I forgot, what about the fact that HD DVD uses better video formats. Gocheck out a timeline of all the new sony formats that came out, that tried to take over the mainstream. Quick summary they all failed.Go watch umd's on your psp.
