Is it faster than a wired connection, or the same?

shouldn't be that much of a difference, just that you have to worry less about a signal dropping or interference when your hard wired with an ethernet cable. If your going wireless , make sure your console is close so that your getting a strong signal. I know Apple, has a new wireless router called "Airport Extreme" and is using a new standard 802.11n which should increase signal strength and faster speeds. But I personally always like having a wired connection over wireless (like the post above, its basically about convenience and having wireless is nice). That new Airport Extreme is going for $180

Yeah, but if you've seen some other articles... apparently the Airport Extreme isn't compatible with the Xbox 360.

It's the xbox360 that's not compatible with the Airport Extreme. Apple has stated that with the release of a firmware update, this incompatibility should be fixed. And to answer the poster's question, a wired connection is always faster than a wireless one.

I don't think it really matters. The wireless is going to be able to pump more information then your ISP can give you anyway. It's like getting a car that can go 200 but the speed limit is 55.

Apple's new airport is not the only router adopting the new .11n standard, there are all ready quite a few, Apple is simple on of the more expensive ones. I've already seen (i'm pretty sure they were D-link) ones around $120-$150 CAD, and one that went as low as $80 CAD (after MIR)

Poor analogy. Wired is faster, and more reliable, hands down. In the typical home you are not going to be getting a 100% signal (despite what your laptop or computer might tell you when it says the connection is 100%, excellent, that isn't actually true, they sugar coat the numbers, for example using intell proset, they list a connection between 70-100% as excellent (full bars) and a connection of around 60% as very good (4/5 bars) to tell your actual connection strength you need either a wifi detector or another software tool that doesnt coat the numbers). I've tested my laptop at my house both wired and wireless and depending where i am in the house i can see around a 10-15% increase in speed (using various connection and bandwidth testers) when im wired, but again wireless is more convient. Depending on your setup in your house you may or may not see a noticable difference between wired and wireless, but wired is definitely faster and more reliable.
