yea you should find a group of friends and play with them to get better and hey you might find people who will give you a few pointers if you accept your humility.
No, getting beat allows for personal growth and improvement. What I dislike are the players that think owning other players is somehow on par with things like discovering a cure for cancer or winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
although the fact remains that really it is a sign that you should maybe practice more, it is refreshingly funny to see such brutal honesty on the forums....iv heard too many fat, lonely, pasty faced nerds sat in their mums basements posting on the forums how their are the "supreme pwner...of noobs"!!! keep it going dude.

I'm one of the mediocre players, my kill/death ration is almost always plus, but I wont get excessive kills, like I think my record in Rainbow 6: Vegas was 17 kills & 7 deaths (There whole team were officers Me: Sargent) I'm proud of that even thought my friend will get a 30 kill game almost everyday.

I havent played online in a couple months because I was w/out a 360. but last time I was online I was playing gears and went in bangin my gnasher and toastin fools (off and on) for like an hour. but as I played into the AM (around) 6, I got worse and worse. but I kept playing (and getting owned).

Yes, It gets tiring and that's why you just need to stick to one game and practice practice practice, I wonder if the Wii controls will even out the playing field when online games come out?

Much of the time your teammates won't even communicate with you. I got in one match and it was just two people arguing about when they got up in the morning or something.
The best strategy for Gears Of War... in my case anyway, is to get to know the maps better. Figure out the layout, where the weapons are, where the spawn points are, where the spawn points connect, all the good hiding places... I've beaten the game on insane but I've been getting smoked because I don't know these things. Keep getting surprised and am unable to find the good weapons (torque bow, et al). But there are FAQs out there and other places likely have visual maps that show you where everything is. That's a big difference between someone who plays 100 hours of MP and someone who plays 1... they always know where to be.

Good is chainsawing someone in GoW, headshotting someone else, and then getting blown apart by some feminine hygeine product with a sniper. Owning (Or the philosophical "pwn") is having your teammates all dead, going up against 4 opponents that are armed with the Hammer of Dawn, Sniper Rifle, Grenade Launcher, and the Chainsaw Rifle...against you. With only a pistol. Then, you win. Jonas Salk has nothin on that.
I was like that at gears until I learned the maps. And I ALWAYS let the others know I was bad but trying to learn, and most of the time they were cool about it and if they weren't I would leave and goto another game. And NEVER goto a ranked match util you are better. I learned that the hard way after 3 or so groups were very mean and disrespectful to me. Just find people that play for fun then you will have fun, die less, and eventually get better.
jus keep practing and ull get better and like it also depends on the ppl u play also  but my advise is like in gow i usually jus stick w my team and like back them up and stuff
Well usaully when this happens to me is i gernade tag or chainsaw them. Of course then they have to start complaining then but hey if it keeps from them owing me im going to do it.
yeah, it gets frustrating (to this day, i will NOT play halo 2 online). my best advice is to stick to playing with your friends, and keep a like minded friends list that is directed more toward recreational gaming over competitive freaks.

Everyone dies a lot at the start. The more you play, the more you learn the maps. Knowing the maps is probably one of the most important things to a game. You learn the good places to hangout.

It's a VIDEOGAME!!! It's funny how a lot of you responded saying "IÂ don't get I owned...I do the owning." Pathetic. Play the game and have fun. It doesn't take a tremendous amount of skill to "own" four guys on Gears when your entire team is dead; I have done this more than once. But, it does take skill and effort to get outside and run 2 miles as fast as you can. Serioulsy, some of you do act like your the king of gaming when you win a few rounds. Of course your going to be good at the game if you sit there day in and day out playing over and over and over and over and over again. Sometimes I feel kinda bad for you guys because I know that's all you do. Sad. You guys know who you are becase when I hop on live every now and then you are ALWAYS on playing. ALWAYS.

So then why are you here belittling people on a hobby of theirs? Do I always play? No. I have a job, I play guitar, I've even been known to return your mom's phone calls from time to time when the mood strikes me. But did I make that en excuse to come in here and berate those who might spend much more time than I doing what they enjoy? I very well could have made my previous post something along the lines of "LAWLZ IM IN YOUR BASE KILLING ALL YOUR MANS!!!! GET BETTERZ ADNS YOU WONT DI3!!!" But I didn't because I know that it does take a considerable amount of practice to be good at anything, regardless of what it is. I admire anyone who is great at what they do, simply because of sheer dedication and determination. You want to talk to other people about running and outdoorsmanship, go to the YMCA, join a Hiking Troop. Don't type your demeaning comments on a message boards that are here for people who love games, and are looking for serious advice.

Im a mediocre player, But the only time I have a real problem with getting owned online is when your playing with friends and such and a bunch of other people join in that really suck so everyone is sent into the middle and your the unlucky one who gets matched up with the people who can't play. That's the only time I have a problem with getting whooped. Because your always the last guy alive on your team(Im talking about Gears heavily here) and then you get completely ganged up on cause everyone else is dead, then you have to listen to your team mates go on about how its the hosts upper advantage, then when the host says start your own room and we'll all join they go on about saying how he'll own them and have to listen to them whine when he's winning.
Wow, feels good to get that off me chest. But yea I just love playing with people who are better, worse or on your skill level, cause it makes everyone better in the long run, it just blows when your teamed with immature kids who can't accept the fact that they suck. But yea, getting pwned online all the time does suck.
It doesn't bother me that much unless they're overly cocky. I just got 360 last week and the best I've gotten on GoW is 3 kills, which gets really frustrating when you're playing with people who get 20+ kills each game.
