Bioshock is definetly not scary, however it is most definaty eery.APOLLOCJD
Yep agreed, it has a killer atmosphere.
the only part that really got me was when you first got the shotgun... and the medical pavilionethanpaige
That part was hard to see...
The definition of scary isn't always just about how many time you jump. This game will make you jump a few times. The first Big Daddy fight scared me, the surprise attack by a spider splicer also scared me.
This game is also scary on an atmospheric level, the sound and graphics do an excellent job of setting a creepy and eerie mood. If you are playing it alone in a dark room you might have the hair on your neck on end a lot of the time.
I'd say it's not as scary as FEAR was but is definitely more scary than Gears of War or Half-life 2.
The whole game is eery, but there are only a few parts that are make-you-jump-scary. Also most of those moments are if you wander off the beaten path (really explore) so it's possible to avoid the scarier stuff if you wish.
You should pick up Mass Effect too they are both GREAT games.
It's a my favorite game to date. Just only yesterday, Gears of War was my favorite game, now BioShock took that spot. Yes, it was THAT good. It was more than good, superb! Excellent story, extremely fun gameplay, and such a great cast of voice actors! The story was so gripping I didnt want to put down the controller. I have not one complaint about this game. And that's a first for me. If I could give it a 10 I would. Actually I can! So I give it a 10. And I'm a very tough critic, read my reviews. It's only $39.99, it's worth every penny. Go hurry, and buy it now.
P.S. - it's not scary, scary. It's eerie. And there's a lot of scenes and things you'll see throughout the game that will make you say "whoa." It's a very complex game, in terms of story and visuals. It's slightly twisted and the atmosphere really makes you feel like you're in a totally different world. It's beautiful.
what type of little girl is scared of videogames?geofshaka
what? so you've never been scared of a movie? its essentially the same thing. if you can't even recognise that games can be scary then you're obviously not getting into the spirit. If you've NEVERbeen scared by a videogame, you've obviously never played resident evil..

Uh...me I guess. I'm surprised at the amount of people here claiming that Bioshock isn't scary at all. For me, it's the creepiest videgame I've ever played sinse the first Silent Hill.
Creepy, freaky, scary, however you want to word it, Bioshock is it. And if someone is incapable of immersing themselves in the games environment and atmosphere during gameplay, then they're missing out.
It's just like watching a scary movie so good that you're on the edge of your seat wondering what's about to happen around the next corner. Same thing with Bioshock.
Mabye people in this thread are taking the word "scary" too literally. I think Bioshock is scary, but certainly not to the point that I'm tremmbling and unable to sleep at night, consumed by the terror Bioshock has unleashed on my mind.:P
how old are yal mabye thats why i dnt get scared of games im 23geofshaka
