Is borderlands supposed to look like that?

I was flipping through the screenshots and the games graphics look cartoony/pixelated... is this just developer artwork or are those in game screenshots... I for one sure as hell hope they arent

yea the developers thought it was a good direction to go some thing diffrent for a action rpg shooter u know. i think its called cell shader yea thats it. overall this game looks like a day one buy for me

I love the people who think somethingdifferent is ugly. Do you not read reviews about the graphics? "Borderlands is gorgeous! it may look like a cartoon version of gallout 3, but that impression is scrubbed away by the edgy beauty of everything from the vast landscapes to the ferocious monsters." I would rather see this the the norm of light brown dark brown.

When they first changed the art style I wasn't for it, then I saw some vids and I thought it looked awesome. You should watch some gameplay footage instead of just looking at screens. Here's a thread where all the Borderlands vids have been gathered.

I think it's a good change from crap we've been seeing like in CoD and FO3. Not that those are bad graphics in any stretch, I just love the direction they took with Borderlands, makes it stand out and it looks awesome.

Yes, those are the graphics and they look fantastic.

No one here said anything against the colors in Borderlands, so his post made no sense. It strayed from the argument, that's all.

On the otherhand, I happen to love cel shaded graphics. I loved the style since XIII and Windwaker and Crackdown as well. This is a day one buy for me and a welcomed new, fresh title to my collection.

Is it not the gameplay, lastability and replay value you should take in account? I hate people that only play and like games because of the good graphics and don't take in account the gameplay and how fun the game is.Cryptiic

Dude! that's the beauty of borderlands. Is a work of art and is very unique. I look at it as an awesome anime movie that you can play. :D

I don't think it comes down to intelligence. I played Fallout 3 for about 3-4 hours and i couldn't get past the art style, so I have never played it again. I liked the gameplay for the most part and thought the story was interesting, but I couldn't play a game where I didn't feel as though they took full advantage of the atmosphere. Granted it was a nuclear wasteland but i was turned off by the same dim uninspired set-peices and landscapes.

I thought he admitted he didn't know what he was talking about in that other thread but he's still at it.

I said it already but, something new once in a while doesn't hurt. The ancient looked waaay too much like something we had seen already im glad they changed it.

Yes it is supposed to look like that. And thank God it does. It's something that isn't used much. No one can truely say that they'd rather have another game full of gun metal grey and dirt brown than colorful cel-shaded graphics.
