Is CoD 4 too short?

I am going to play multiplayer occasionally, but I am mainly looking for a good, single player experience. Nothing incredibly Oblivion-like long, but not like blowing through it in 5 hours either. I am pretty good at fpses (however you say fps plural) and, as long as its really good and the formula works, don't mind replaying levels again and again. For example, some complain that Gears is only good multiplayerwise because singleplayer is so short, however I replay Gear levels over and over. I'm the type of person who dies on purpose right before a checkpoint to play a part again because I enjoyed it so much. I'm not the type of guy who needs something totally different every two seconds and cant appreciate smelling the polygonal 2D virtual roses. Do you think for me It would be worth buying since I play like this? Or does it really lack replayability?

I played COD4 at my friend's house, got hooked and bought it :)

I didn't try campaign yet, but mulitplayer is just awesome, tons of guns and customizations (more than in any fps i've ever played), as well as a cool ranking system. I'm planning on starting campaign this monday since i have the week off :D

Yes, the campaign is far too short. Don't get me wrong, I love it and its a great campaign, but if it was longer it would be near perfect in my opinion.

The multiplayer certainly does make up for it though.

Wow, slow down. Just because the campaign is short, certainly doesn't mean that you should pass on this game. Sure it is short, but it is cinematic, enjoyable, intense and overall, fantastic. The only complaint I have with it is that it is on the short side. I would still highly recommend it.

Wayy too short. I bet it on regular in about 4 hours, and most of it on vetern in 5 hours.

I wouldn't buy it for the singleplayer.

Finished it on Veteran on 2 days,Definitely would have finished the first day but i was already tired.Took around 12 hours.Very enjoyable but theirs no point to play it more than once,The achievements can be done in one play so if you don't have Multiplayer theirs no point in Buying it.

The campaign is really short, but it covers a lot of ground and feels quite epic.

The multiplayer is where it's at.

I rented it since I heard it was so short and got through it pretty quickly. I'm more of a single person player than multi, so this was the best way for me to experience it. Great game for sure, but very short. Ridiculously short. Shockingly short. Unacceptably short.

So I'd advise renting it over either buying or avoiding.
