it is anthing but a failure almost everyone i know who has a xbox has it, cod has sold millions
it might not be the best one but it is still good, and nobody gets it for the single player mode lol
i got the game for my birthday (yes my family still gives me birthday presents) played through it completely, then asked my mother who got me the game for the reciept back, my excuse bieng that i'd feel guilty having a game that i would never play sitting there. guns are rarely interesting and poorly animated, became uninterested in the characters almost immediately and and became annoyed with the worst looking violence and gore since DOOM, the second fps ever made if im not mistaken. cod4 was sweet but this sucked, is it simply that WWII cant be done justice or what?SHEATHED_BLADEOh, you have to find something to moan about don't you?... no offense, but reading through your post it sounded as though you had to try and find stuff to complain about... seriously, this game is CoD4 but just set in WWII... sounds like you are trying to give WAW a bad name... again, no offense, but it just annoyed me when I read the thread title saying "is everybody too scared to admit that COD5 failed"... and to answer that question, no I am not too scared to admit that it failed because it is a success! it is a great game, it is sold a lot of copies and it is still one of the most played games on Xbox Live, so no, it is not a failure.
The gameplay was good, but sadly, it was nothing new.iwantasong
the same could be said about CoD2 and 4
it all depends on opinion. i thought it did great. wat if i called Half life 2 a failure. thats what i think of it, it doesnt make it a fact ,like the way you said that cod 5 failed saying it was a fact.
ok just for the record the most recent CoD is NOT the fifth one, it it was it would say on the cover:Call of Duty 5:World At War. but it doesn't, so my point this new CoD it just probably a finish off from CoD:3 because in the new cod, do you see captain price? what about ssgt. griggs? no you don't, so to make this clear: "CALL OF DUTY: WORLD AT WAR" IS NOT i repeat:NOT THE FIFTH ONE GET IT RIGHT PEOPLE!! LOOK UP NEW GAME NEWS, or google the thing how i hope i got this through your headsAnak1nsky3r
well it came out after 4 so it is the 5th one even tho it doesnt say that on the cover, and i thought it was a great game i pla it almost every day
The reason everyone said it failed is the fact that it's basically a reskinned, somewhat improved COD4. Is that a bad thing?Th3-UnS33nYes and no. People both crave and despise change. It's finding the right balance that takes skill. Personally, I'm enjoying WaW. My only fear is that it may make me sick of CoD by the time Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 comes out, which I have high hopes for.
Copies sold =/= Quality
CoD:WaW failed epicly in terms of the game itself, but not in terms of fans. Besides, it's not like it was a complete disaster, anyway.

I would really love to know what people expected from this game when they say it "sucked" or "failed". Yes, I understand that there are some hardcore CoD4 fanboys out there but you couldn't have honestly expected the same type of experience from a game that is clearly based on WWII. I would agree that the WWII theme is played out by now but I wish people would stop giving Treyarch flak for it. They probably didn't even have a choice since Activision already has Infinity Ward working on Modern Warfare 2, I'm sure they wouldn't have wanted Treyarch doing the same thing.
Don't get me wrong, I'd probably rather be playing Modern Warfare 2 than World at War, but as it stands, WaW is a solid game and probably the best WWII game to date. It has a solid single player game, an excellent selection of multiplayer gametypes (unleashing dogs never gets old!), tons of weapons, excellent co-op (including deathcard unlockables), nazi zombies, and also more maps in the works.
Your comment about the "worst looking violence and gore since Doom" is completely unfounded, I have no idea where you're getting that. If you don't like it, that's fine, maybe it's not your cup of tea, but the only thing that has failed here is your post.

Sadly, it'll always be known as CoD5. -_-
Its not that its a bad game, its just WAY too overhyped. The gameplay was good, but sadly, it was nothing new.iwantasongNiether was Call of Duty 4. What exactly is wrong with hype again? Last I checked hype isn't a feature in a game. Not sure why people have to hold hype against a game.

It rocked dude you must be the only one who says it didn't.

The problem is that it didn't improve at all.
it failed in the wake of modern warfare in terms of everything- have you played the game?? its sad!! levels remain linear, SHEATHED_BLADE
CoD is always linear...
weapons POORLY animated, SHEATHED_BLADE
They're pretty well animated in my opinon
the nozzle flash is a second-long freeze frame, which breaks the immersion comletely (yes im picky),SHEATHED_BLADE
:|
anyone shoot anyone in the head with the .50 cal? majorly lame, or maybe thats just the weapon itself? SHEATHED_BLADE
What the hell are you talking about?
expressionless japanese people come screaming at you with KATANAS!- you stab them in the neck... not even an eyebrow raises, SHEATHED_BLADE
Uhh, one guy in the entire game comes at you with a katana, and he slashes you with it, and you have to be dragged away...
multiplayer is a carbon copy of and still worse than worse than cod4's, SHEATHED_BLADE
Think about what you just said.
sales figures are simply a bi-product of cod4's amazing success. this is how its failed people!!SHEATHED_BLADE
That's why so many people still play it? The fact that it sold well and thousands of people play it makes it a success. Regardless, you didn't list a single, reasonable or well thought out reason to why it's a bad game, other than that it's very similar to CoD4 (which is true, it is).
Hey man, I like Infinity Ward better than Treyarch too, but this game is well made and has been received as such. Get over it.
oh and if cod waw is so great then why is the heck is the a second part to cod4 in the making now. exactly cause cod waw sux compared to cod4!!!xX-Unholy-XxThat's like the most unreasonable and ridiculous explanation to why Infinity Ward is making Modern Warfare 2. You should take into account that Activision wants a new CoD every year, or so that was the plan. World at War is Treyarch's last game since Infinity Ward holds the license. And since Modern Warfare is still so popular, why mess with a good thing? Infinity Ward wants to milk it a little more which is obvious, and why shouldn't they since Modern Warfare is so awesome already?
