This is coming from a person who's spent over 50+ hours with the game on the Xbox 360:

Fallout 3 isn't overrated, but it's done to soon. Whether you complete the main quest or everything else, Fallout 3 has you crying for more. Of course the game has a lot of content compared to other titles on the market. But when you look at how Bethesda has done games in the past, after spending even over 40 hours with the game or you'll realize that Fallout 3 should have been much more then what's available. But I have to say that it's one of the most immersive RPGs I've played, and should be apart of any RPG fan's collection.

The game is underrated. You see GTA 4 got a 10 and was fun only for a little while However Fallout 3 is ten times the game GTA 4 is and never received the score it should have. It's the only game I've ever played where I wondered what the game would be like evil. I went evil my second play through and have felt very bad for things I have done. very few game can do that. I am a diehard rpg fan. I havent played a million, but i love rpg's. Fallout 3 is cool, but at the end of the day, the gameplay really isnt that fun. The idea is cool, all the extras are cool. all the details are cool, but all youre really doing is running around and shooting. The combat is really weak. You pop in to VATS, shoot your gun, then finish them off. Just like oblivion, they put all the effort of ten great games to gloss up a game that, after you strip all the gloss away, is just boring. Its good for a couple play throughs, but i will almost certainly never play it again. i bought it the day it came out and played it for maybe 40 hours and that was great. but then you realize its boring!!!

I think it's a good game. I'd much rather have Elder Scrolls 5, but I'm satisfied with the game and I plan on getting all the DLC for it. Put about 115 hours in the game (50 on first guy, 15 on a girl who I used soley to get the data miner achievement, and another 50 on a guy who I made a lot better than my first one). Maxed out everything except melee, explosives, and barter.

I give Fallout 3 a 6/10

An incredibly boring game. This game's popularity completely baffles me. I played it for at least 10 hours and felt half-asleep the whole time. I kept playing hoping to see something exciting or interesting happen, but nothing ever came. I can only imagine that players are enjoying the post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland environment of the game, which is pretty unique for a first-person game.

What else appeals to fans of this game?

For me, the combat was extremely simplistic, and felt far inferior to even the most basic FPS games of 10+ years ago. Some have said that instead of treating it like an FPS, view it as an RPG combat system but from an FPS perspective. Even if I do that, what is really here that makes the combat interesting? I press V to engage the VATS system. I choose my target. I execute. All enemies are quickly dealt with in this manner, and I didn't even do anything! I didn't see any tactical or strategical depth to the combat of Fallout 3, and while I'm not a big fan of RPGs to begin with, I was under the impression that their combat typically has some kind of challenge...

fallout 3 isnt overrated.its an incredible game if you were in that situation ingame. GTA4 could or can be consider overrated,score wise. there isnt much gameplay unlike other gta games which after years of arcade "feel" that we get used to.

I thought it was whenever I finished my first playthrough. Very short main story, not enough side missions (to me that is), designing your character was completely pointless. But it did capture the feel for a nuclear wasteland, survival, money and ammo management, etc.

I don't think it's overrated at all. It's a fantastic game, and even its flaws were not enough for me to stop enjoying it immensely. It was definitely one of my favorite games of last year.

definately not. i'd say its one of the better games that i didnt pay much attention to until the final week

Fallout 3 is a great game, but the only thing i dont like about it is the landscape that is why i like oblivion more even though they cheated me out of an achievement lol. After all no fallot 3 is not overrated, just not my favorite.

Yes. The gameplay mostley revolves around vats. The combat is a bit hard without it. Theres really nothing that makes the graphics stand out, since its just a nucleur wastland. The radar is bad in urban areas, since it always leads you into buildings and piles of concrete you can't get over. The pip boy light barely illumitates anything. Your enimies always have dead on acuracy when your 100 feet away from them. Vats doesn't make you fell satisfied at all. Theres an overuse of gore, (People loosing all their limbs from one magnum shot, come on). And finally, the ending is horrible. I really regret buying this game.

When I made the switch from PC to 360, Fallout 3 was at the top of list, only because I enjoyed the sequals. Granted, I am barely into the game, but I have enjoyed it a lot more than GTA IV. I also do not believe it is overrated - overrated is a game like SPORE.

at first i did, then i played the game for about 2 more hours and i loved it. this is coming from a big oblivion fan though.

No. I think it's OK, but it is a REALLY REALLY big world, lol. If you go far, you can get into trouble with some Ghouls. If you go into the urban areas, you'll encounter gangs of raiders. It's an average-fun game. :D
