How bad is Far Cry 2 iyo? I tried to like it but just couldn't. What I thought was really stupid was the vehicles coming from out of nowhere off the road to run you over out of the blue lol. Doing a mission all the way on the other side of the map and it taking ten minutes to get there only to be killed before you can save the game.

How about your enemies being sharp shooters with crappy and rusty weapons (not sniper rifles) and being able to nail you while you're crouched down in the weeds 100 yards away? What do you think of this rushed Ubi Soft creation?

I can't believe the score GameSpot gave this game. Is it further proof that they do get caught up in the hype too much?

Yes, the game has its flaws and downs, but it could be a lot better with very little change. Just adding the option of fast-travel alone would make the game significantly better. And yes, there was also too much hype behind the game before its release. Overall, the game is very mediocre and flawed, but it could be a lot better; it's up to Ubisoft I guess. And the answer to your question: Hour of Victory is the worst FPS on the 360. :P

It isn't perfect but it's fun, the save system is annoying and the huge amound of convoys and outposts you meet when you are travelling is also annoying but it is a decent game. Probably deserves a 7.5 IMO.

Hmmm Ihad the same problem when I first started out but after getting super pissed I actually got better at hiding from enemy fire, and shooting them back. Now the only thing that really irks me is the one objective being on the opposite side of the friggin map! ANd then having to go ALLLL the way back for another mission. Really takes away from the fun. The buses help, but there should be a bus station in the middle of the map as well not just the outter parts of the map. Ubi has the potential to fix this game and make it great, and I did hear there was a patch.....lets hope they listen.

Yes, the game indeed wasn't all that great. I played it, but driving in the car with the map just takes to long, it feels more like a scavenger hunt than a FPS.

The thing is that in orther to appreciate this game you really have to be a good FPS player because the AI is far to skilled and hard to take down.I finished it on normal and I liked it but the AI is way competent for my tastes.

That is part of it no doubt I'm a very casual FPS gamer I'm more of a RPG fan. But still the game has too many flaws to be enjoyable for the most part and the driving and getting around the map is way to much of a chore.

although it does have its flaws with the randomness of enemies (patrols and respawning checkpoints), you could do plenty worse

Im really enjoying this game, I kinda like trekkin around the place to get to missions. The environment just looks so good and its fun sneaking up on people at the outposts.

The game gets really good when you unlock all the weapons. Then choosing which way to do each mission is fun. You can sneak up and take out half the guys with a sniper rifle then run in and mop up the rest, or start a fire and take cover and pick people off as they rush about.

I think the games pretty enjoyable but I can see how it might not be for everyone.

I hated Far Cry 2 with a burning passion but I doubt it's the worst FPS on the 360. That hour of victory demo was really terrible.

Are you serious? The AI is not hard at all. The plan is always the same. Get Sniper rifle. Get a perch. Take out as many guys as you can see. Wade in with your heavy machine gun and mop up whoever's left. Rinse and repeat. For every mission. Yeah, repetition is a problem. That said, the game isn't hard at all. Finding your way around is hard, and constantly driving through guard posts is a nuisance, as is the wretched map system, but difficulty is not an issue here. Just buy new guns and refresh them frequently.

Far Cry 2's awesome. Yes it has its problems. What game doesn't? The main flaw all you people don't like is that it isn't Call of Duty. It's too different to Call of Duty. The only game people want to play these days is Call of Duty. Go play CoD then and stop moaning. Far Cry 2's awesome. In fact, I'm gonna go play it now.

Did you try Far Cry IP? That game was terrible. The Xbox version was a lot better. I haven't played FC2 yet, but I was hoping it would have improved.

Both maps have bus stations in the middle of the map. There is a bus station at both of the neutral cities in the middle.

I agree, no way is this the worst FPS on 360, yes the objectives are a little spaced out, but what would be the point of having such a detailed world only to fast travel around it, or just reaching loading area like fable 2, which for me destroyed any immersion. I guess people do just get carried with the hype nowadays, yeah the game could be improved but when you say it's yhe worst FPS what are you comparing it to? Played and finished WAW (good if a little linear) can't be bovered with Gears 2 ( liked 1st but again to linear) Halo 3? (cool Multi campaign sucked), Bioshock (awesome but not really traditional FPS, Playing Fear (cool shooter but bit dated now, and lack variety of environ) so in comparison why is Far cry 2 in your opinion so bad?

I personally find it to be an awesome game.

It's not call of duty, so you just have to expect a different style of play

the respawning guard posts are a little dumb, but the world would be so empty without them. I think ubisoft could do two things to make the game better:

1) once you have a mission, allow you to fast travel between safe houses you've unlocked...but only once you have a mission active

2) Make the respawn rate of guard posts equal to about 12 hours, maybe even 24 hours of the game's cycle

otherwise, the game is awesome...such a different concept for a fps

As far as the FPS elements go the game is great, it is just incredibly hard. It seems like you are shocked the enemies have the ability to hit you when they take a shot at you.

The random car thing is annoying, but it keeps you from getting boredwhen you drive. But you can just take the bus. The only thing I really had a problem with was therespwaning Gaurd Posts - that was annoying beyond all words..

Try turn the targting reticule on, because you may have trouble aiming down the sights, and turn the difficulty down. This game is not a halo or a cod 4, you can not just haul ass into the middle of a war zone and expect to come out untouched.

Worst FPS on the 360? Nah, far from it. Theres so much more garbage out there that just hurts to play.

I did have the hardest time trying to like FC2 though. I felt like it was just missing something the whole time. The gameplay seemed to be really repetetive (not to say many FPS's aren't) and there wasn't much to spice it up. Overall, just a bland game imo.

A few people were saying everyone is so used to CoD, but I was never expecting it to be that, or Halo, or anything else really. The concept was unique, and i feel like they could've taken it further. I guess it could be a good stepping stone? Who knows.

It has alot of potential to be a good shooter and the graphics are amazing but as far as gameplay and enemy A.I. they really dropped the ball. I dont know if its just me but im pretty sure if i shot some dude in africa with an AK-47 like 10 times he would at least fall but no in this game they all take as many shots as 50 cent to die

Umm yeah it's like they are all olympic champion sharp shooters or something. Do you think you could hit a moving target 100 yards away hiding behind weeds? It don't make sense.

It's not the worst FPS, but it definitely has its flaws. The AI was average, at best, and getting rammed by a random car just passing through after completing a difficult mission got annoying, but the gameplay wasn't bad. Overall, it was an average game.

Far Cry 2 is terrible.

I'll give it credit for creating a fairly massive open world setting that had great potential for great shoot outs. But here you have a great sandbox to play in, and the developer gives you a bunch of repetative mission that revolves around killing stationary targets, blowup circling trucks, and an assortment of missions along those lines that are only hampered by boring gunplay, awkward movement and animation and uninteresting enemies. These generic african henchmen did nothing more than serve as target practice.

The storyline had little impact on the game and give the player little incentive to propell the story foward. After 20 hours on that game, I realized that the only reason for my finishing of missions is just to collect more diamonds and unlocking more weapons in hopes of getting weapons to make the bland combat more interesting.

Most games nowadays have mediocre singleplayer but makes up for it by including a phenomenal multiplayer. Far Cry 2's multiplayer fails miserably. You have the most unbalanced weapon lineup in any recent shooters, creating an online community that goes straight for explosives, little vairation there. Maps are designed quite well but when theres nothing much to do. The game modes are very compelling and the horrible gunplay from singleplayer carries over, making gunfights out to be nothing more than BB gun matches, unimpressive and tedious.

The only great thing about FAr Cry 2 was its map editor. But thats little incentive to shell out money for when there are so many better games on the 360. unless you prefer looking at african foliage for twenty minutes while chasing after one interchangable assassination target with another only to get run over by a truck quite frequently and having to repeat the twenty minutes of jungle cruising, then yes get this game.

No, it's a great game with many flaws. The difference is whether or not you can get over them and enjoy the overall experience.

I really like FC2 despite its flaws, which are minor to me. The fast travel bus system is enough for me in that regard. My only gripe really are the respawning guard posts. I don't think they should respawn until I leave that section of the map. Same goes for the patrols. The only time I have those patrols attack me is if they see me or hear me (gunfire). Sometimes I think this gen of gaming has created a lot of new impatient gamers. Games like GeoW or CoD that have no branching paths or much exploration. It's like most gamers nowadays want their hands to be held and if a game doesn't, then it's trash and even rated lower by game reviewers. I'm not saying FC2 is the greatest FPS ever, not even close. The game can get repetitive I admit. But it takes maybe 3 minutes tops to get to any location on the map.

If you think this gen is my first gen for gaming, you couldn't be more wrong. I also don't want a game to hold my hand, but I expect a game to be polished enough to know what it's trying to do. Ubi just bit off more than they could chew with this game, trying to combine two genres like an unproven recipe that turned out to not taste very good.

I really liked this game. I like games that are very open and have lots of stuff to do like in this one. I don't think its the worst FPS for the 360.

[QUOTE="danciu"]The thing is that in orther to appreciate this game you really have to be a good FPS player because the AI is far to skilled and hard to take down.I finished it on normal and I liked it but the AI is way competent for my tastes.Paladin_King

It sounds to me that you made the game repetitive. I haven't played the game yet, but you are supposed to try different things and figure out new methods to approach objectives. You sound like you found something that worked and did it over and over and over again...

no its not the worst.... i find it very hard to play this game somedays and sometimes its more like a chore to play it.
at times it is fun but at other times it is very frustrating and yes the guard post thing is very agravating. and as people have said before me the multi player is even worse, i have found myself on the multiplayer mode in this game for hours at a time but only 30 % of the time actually playing the rest of the time trying to find a good match.

yes the map maker is cool but i have no interest in making maps and half the ones other people make are very bland.

it is good at times but im seriously considering trading it in for skate 2 or somthing else good because frankly i had more fun playing the skate 2 demo than i had playing far cry 2.

Umm yeah it's like they are all olympic champion sharp shooters or something. Do you think you could hit a moving target 100 yards away hiding behind weeds? It don't make sense.

Question: Have you, as a player, ever hit a moving target at a about 100 yards away while playing a FPS (I.E. Halo, CoD, etc.)?
