Is Gears of War 2 online really that bad??

Best experience i've had in an online game.Sometimes you might find a match thats laggy but overall its fun and the people i've played with so far have been pretty cool.

The only one i have problems with is waiting time for matches.

most of the glitches are like cheats and the bastards who use them ruin the game.

my main gripe would be the matchmaking. sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. and when I finally connect to a game about two weeks later i get my ass handed to me, but at least it's fast-paced and fun with friends. but you have Soul Calibur IV? I have to admit that I have more fun playing that game online than any other multiplayer game on the 360 so far. no joke. people who choose cheap characters are annoying as all hell, but its ridiculously satisfying when you kick someone's butt when you use a rarely-used character (in other words, Yoshimitsu is badass).bulletsword

It was bad a week ago but for the past 4 days it has been really fast finding matches.

The only problem I've found were shield glitchers but since their movement is bad while glitching I just roll to get close to the area where they have the shield and chainsaw.

it has flaws cuz the glitches, being a over hyped game no1 expected these glitches, it is funner than halo 3, trust me, i have both, single and MP as well;

the game is pretty fun, ull enjoy the matches on MP and horde is awesome, the 1st problem and maybe the common one is: time to enter a match, cuz can be a while, to me, kinda 3 or 4 min is the top, but ive heard that around 20...lol, never believed that. depends the player conection but can get kinda laggy sometimes. but well

if u have 360 gears 2 is a must have, and thats it

I actually enjoy the online alot more then Gears1, i think they have improved alot and the new HORDE mode is amazing.

I personally think Gears2 is the game that Gears1 should have been, better in every way imo.

Get Halo 3 it will get supported online alot longer than Gears 2. Also Halo 3 is not filled with glitches and is not a lag fest half the time. demon565

halo3 has like over 200 thousand players alot and u find matches pretty quick, my fav online game sicne it came out :)

If you loved gears 1 online you will NOT like gears 2 online. The lag isnt fixed. The glitching isnt fixed. The host advantage isnt fixed. Its OK. I youve either never played gears 1 online or you didnt like gears 1 online, you may like it. Most matches i played are people just running up to you and slapping you a couple of times with their gun. Its worth playing but personally just frustrates me with the amount of cheap deaths. oh, and matchmaking and the ranking system are pretty bad.commander-cool

i've never tried the online, because i don't subscribe to xbox live. but when playing split-screen, i don't notice any bugs at all so far. it was enjoyable playing it on split-screen.

I just got it, and I keep hearing about how bad the online is. Is it really that bad? I know there's glitches, and I saw the video on youtube from Cliff. Is it playable? If it's really that bad, I'll go back to gamestop and get Halo 3 instead. or maybe another good multiplayer game. i'm open to suggestions. I already pitched in for a copy of Halo 3, so I can borrow that anytime to play. ihaveabu

Its actually pretty good with the new Horde mode installed into Gears 2, but also they have a bunch of other multiplayer maps against others which do require some skill to suceed in. There are a couple of downsides though, like you are not able to pick really which game you want to go into as you have to filter a search engine to find a game/players to play online...unless you do a private game. The other thing is that when people leave on you in a game it kind of sucks, especially if your trying to watch your ranking. The Ranking system really isnt too clear and if your having problems registering your gamertag with the website its hard to get a clear view of were you stand.

Putting aside all else, Gears of War 2 is an intense game and it really does rock I enjoy playing horde especially I have already beaten it once with 2 XBox's and 4 buddies system linked(took 4 hours!!) but I just keep coming back to Gears.
