I personally believe that Gears of War is one of the best games ever made but only for the single player or coop campaign. Every game has its flaws and in GoW it seemed to be more in the multiplayer side of it. Of course that in the campaign your team's AI was ridiculously terrible but that doesn't stop you from having a good time. The only problems that really occur because of that is instances where they need you to do something while they're supposed to cover you... but because their AI is so bad they don't do a very good job of it. At least those moments are few and far apart.
As for the multiplayer; I'm glad they fixed a lot of the bugs with the patch they released not too long ago. Of course it's still got bugs. The multiplayer is fun, but nothing I could spend hours on and the main fault is the bugs.
Overall the cover system could have been a lot better as well. Using the same button to roll as covering was a horrible idea on their part. I can't tell you how many times I've died in multiplayer because I've tried to roll out of the way but since there is a wall right next to me it decides to take cover... when the person is on that side of the wall shooting me. It's not so bad in single player because there are fewer moments where that type of stuff happens. If I remember right, the bumpers don't serve any purpose in the multiplayer do they? Or even in the normal game since commanding your team mates seems to be fairly useless with their poor AI. I mean, they could have used one of those bumpers for rolling like PDZ did.
Oh well, enough bashing the game for me, most of these complaints are about relatively small aspects but they're present just enough sometimes to make you want to kill whoever was responsible for shipping the game in this state.
