Is gears of war really that great?

All the fellas talk about it at work and my brother has a 360 and i dont. So i told him what everyone has been saying about Gears and he went out to buy it and he said that its the best game that he has ever played.

So from all of the game spotters what do you like about gears if you do. Wahts so appealing about it. Like i said i have never played it and when i get my 360 i am sure that i will.

It's absolutely incredible - in every aspect.

Graphics, online, enemy AI - it all comes together in one of the best games I've ever played. I stayed up 'til 12 midnight last night just playing co-op with an old friend on XBL (whom lives nearby).

i also think its the best game ive ever played until when i play online and the host whips my ass lol but when im host i whip there ass.sweeten16

its a lag, ok, host kill anybody with one shot and even the're like 5 feet away from the bullet.. thats why i dont play gears anymore cause the bullet lag.. and glitches are wayy stupid

 Anyways, it's a good game, but just like Halo, heavily overrated.

Single player is good but a little short for my tastes.

I never play as host but I seem to do just fine online in GoW, just takes a little skill and Online for me is easily one of the best games of it's ilk that i've played

Ignore the negative comments about MP, it's fine unless you have a bad connection, in which case you'll suck on any game online.

 Single player is ok, multiplayer is better than Halo 2 anyday. Worth a buy for sure.

Yep is fantastic i can really fault it. The singleplayer is great not only because you can play it slpit screen but woth people online, and the multiplayer is insane.PSYCO109

Pros and Cons of GOW

Pros: The graphics are nice, a bit overrated but still good. Multiplayer is fun for a while

Cons: No Story, Cover System has been done before many times, Enemies do not react to getting shot, Multiplayer becomes repatative and dull, Lack of weapon selection, Washed out and very very dark graphics, Chainsaw Bayonet is fun about teh first 5 times then gets old, basically does nothing new and in my opinion is nothing more than a week rental

Gears of War is easily the best game currently on the Xbox 360. The graphics, gameplay, etc. are outstanding.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHA its called Execution mode, u gotta execute them, look at what your playing before you play.

Its a fantastic game all in all but it does have some pretty off putting flaws

• Not many online game modes
• Bad online networking with some very annoying bullet lag, also gives the host a big advantage
• Single player is very strong but also short
• Performance isnt quite up to scratch with Co op as it is single, framerate didnt hold up as good in Co op
• Online has quite a lot of glitches
• Matchmaking isnt that great
• Story isnt as rich as you would expect
• Some of the team mate A.I. Dom in particular can act like a complete moron at times
