is gears of war worth buying now

its only like 30 dollers

but should i buy it or just buy gears of war 2 thats still 60

i hear they both have bad online servers but i played it online at my friends house for a few minutes and it was fun didnt see no problems

so which would be a better buy and which could i have more fun online

I got Gears 1 Refresh for $19 B-NEW & Gears 2 for $41 limited edition USED on ebay. At this point in the games life if you play online matches in any mode other than HORDE in Gears 2 you'll probably just get creamed. Almost all the players I have played with knows the exploits in the game & it's not fun when you're a newbie playing with Vets. I suggest getting Gears 2 bec. it has HORDE mode w/c makes the game more of a team game against the AI.

As far as I am concerned GOW1 will always be overpriced. I really didn't like the game - the cover system was TOO sticky, it didn't have enough weapons, multi suckedand the story was diluted. However, GOW2 improved upon each and every one of these flaws. If continuity of a story is important to you GOW1 should be played first but I would suggest renting that one ... or e-bay an OK but not great copy for cheaper.

Def. get Gears 2 though.

Horde mode is my favorite but i haven't played in a while. Is the backwards shield glitch still working?

How do you figure? The cover system is easier to use in 2. At least IMO 'cuz in 1 I would be running past some ruin and suddely just suck up to it. It got downright frustrating. That rarely happened to me in 2. Also, they added more weapons in 2. Multi got better with different modes, more gernades, the ability to smack 'em into walls (the gernades, that is) and turn them into prox. mines, meat shields and chainsaw duels. The story being vague and diluted in the first is a subjective opinion but I think it's obvious there is more meat to the story in 2. Not to mention the graphics are better the environments are bigger and there is more variety to the levels.

If most ppl think GOW1 campaign was a lot better than 2I think most ppl don't know what they are talking about.

If the only thing you are interested in is the multiplayer, then just buy 2. If you are at all interested in single player, buy both. While the story isn't particularly amazing, the single player gameplay is fantastic and full of great moments.

1. Gears 1 and 2 cover system is virtually the same yes in gears 1 you might get stuck to the wall sometimes even if you don't want to but that most likely your fault.
2. Gears 2 has more more weapons but it doesn'tmatter cause in gears 2 people just either 2 piece you are chainsaw you.
3. Gears 2 has a better campaign.

I fell like they kinda force gears 2 out early there is to many flaws in it they made gears 1 almost perfect and made gears 2 messed up alot of vet gears 1 players dislike gears 2.

If you were smart you would get it on ebay since its only like 12 bucks on there, but its stil worth it for 30 too. It still remains one of favorite games of all time.

Yes pick up Gears of War, even to this day it's one of the best games around.
