i was looking and i see H3 and the orange box got 9.5 but gears is on top with a 9.6, but they dont review things like that anymore. honstly Gears isnt even that great of of a game. anyone else its time for this over rated juggernaut to step down from the throne?
Gears of war is a great game. Of all the games I have for the 360 I have logged more hours of this game than any other. with FNR3 in second. How can you say its not that great of a game? it was the second true next gen game to come out next to FNR3 to show us what the 360 was capable of. The game deserves its score then and now.
well it was alright i thought the mp was horrible its just a shotty fest even with the lancer update. and i wouldnt say its the second next gen
GRAW and COD2 were amazing games with a great online community which is relativly free of glitchers. not to mention Oblivion.
but im not saying gears was a horrible game i just think its over rated. theres a difference

ok cod2 and graw2 where good looking games, but you can't tell me gears didn't have that jaw dropping wow factor. those other games didn't have that to me because its nothing I hadn't seen on my PC. I have graw, cod2 and oblivion, plus R6,cod3, NFS Carbon, Dead Rising, Saints row, FEAR, and other games. the games I listed came out before or around the same time as Gears, and I can honestly say I have played Gow at least 70% more the all of those games. I still play today but those other games are collecting dust. I'm not saying It doesn't have its flaws and glitches, cause we know it does. I feel its worth its score thats all. The thing about H3 is we have seen 2 years worth of good games come out on 360, its just gonna be harder to get that wow factor. then you add in all the H3 hype then you see the gfx with artifacts and its not even true HD, makes it even harder on it. its a great game too but It has it flaws and glitches a like, and now you can record your whole match and view it from any angle. they have just exposed every flaw and glitch the game may have and put on a blown up screen for you to see and study. Back to my point its a good game that has strong legs to run on. but hay thats just my opinion I could be wrong.
Why do you guys all keep bringing up Call of Duty 2? That game is total garbage now. I mean it was a fun launch title, but thats it. The graphics arent that stellar, and are actually prettydated now. What was with the limited 8-player online cap anways?? The maps seemed like they were made for far more. Not too mention how horribly it lagged until it was literally unplayablefor a long period of time until they finally fixed it. Good game when it came out, but I stopped playing it a couple months after I got it, like around when Oblivion and GRAW came out. Gears is far superior and COD2 isnt even in the same league anymore. However COD4 looks incredible.
No game have beat GEARS of WAR 9.6, Halo 3 9.5,The ORANGEBOX 9.5, The only game that can beat GOW have to be CALL of DUTY 4 if not i'll cut my neck out.
sorry but gears is the future. even though halo 3 is a lot better right now, it is not going to be bigger than gears 2. gears of war did the same to the 360 like what halo: combat evolve did to the original xbox.

The new rating system is a good idea... as the old one relied too much on graphics and sound... particularly with the Wii's crusty graphics, a new rating system was necessary to be able to tell if, say, Carnival Games for the Wii was a better shooter than, say, COD4. In theory, it's a good idea... but in practice, it just seems like a way for reviewers to think less.

dude gears of war did something that no one had done since halo. they brought something new to the table. graw was good but it wasn't great. storyline was good but it was just lacking. gears just totally immersed you into the experience. and it deserved every bit of the 9.6 that it got.

Being that you understand why its listed at #1 because of the change in the rating system.. why does it matter? You've made up your mind about which games you like, just as everyone else will.
Gears is a great game. No doubt about it. If it had been rated on the new system though, it would have gotten a 9.5 just like Halo 3 and The Orange Box. I don't mind the new rating system. I like the little icon/emblem things. They tell you a lot about the game in a very short time. The point five system is a little irritating though. I truly don't believe any game out there is ever going to get a 10 with the new system, because any one little problem about a game will take it from the 10 to the 9.5. The old ratings could have tempered that jump by giving a gamea 9.7 or there abouts. IMO a 9.5 is as good as it gets with the new system, so I just figure anything getting a 9.5 might as well be a 10.
Dude, Gears is SO much better than Halo 3! It's the same rehashed stuff with prettier graphics. I only keep it because my buddies play online with it. Half Life Orange Box rocks big time and would probably have gotten the same score or higher than Gears. Halo 3 is overrated though and the score should be knocked down at least half a point from all websites.

Gears isnt the future. Even when Gears 2 comes out more people will be on Halo 3espescially if Gears is still only 8 people. But they may make a Halo 4 in the future. And you said "Gears did the same to the 360 as Halo: CE did to Xbox" ...umm no not really, there just wasnt any option/competition ...it has always been Gears or Vegas with GRAW in the background..and obviously Gears was better online then Vegas.
P.S ..Halo 3 should be on top of Gears because of the Online difference and the x40 features it has compared to Gears. Watching films is thebest X360 feature yet.But Gears has a great campaign.

it was only first with graphics....who really likes 3rd person shooters. if mortal kombat came out with GOw, it would be a hit too. same for halo. or anyone for that matter. add graw graphics too gow. what do you have a LAME, dont be fooled bye eye candy. only feeble undeveloped young-lings fall for stuff like that.
