the story mode for one is worth the purchase, and on top of that there is online this time around - even though i felt the multiplayer could of been more fleshed out, it is there, and can be a lot of fun as you wreck havoc with your friends in team deathmatch, and a variety of other game modes including racing and co-op objective game modes. the mission structure is starting to show its mark with a noticable amount of missions that are just boring, but the game does not feel like a chore. gta iv is worth buying.
I've still yet to make a purchase, but I've seen others talk about how repetitive and boring the game gets. Even a "chore" at times. So my question to you guys is, is GTA IV actually worth buying? Why or why not?Impexof course its a fvcking buy! this game has a chance in nomination for goty!
i dont see it repetative, each mission is different, characters are awsome. the only time it gets repetative is when you got to collect cars, birds or bikes and do the jumps
Well I own this game and love it. I have to admit, after a few weeks or months you'll take a small break from playing it but when you notice you've stopped you'll jump right back to it.
The graphics are top notch, the story is by far one of the best storylines you can find, the gameplay has been tweaked allowing it to play smoother and entertain you for a long while plus there's online which I heard never gets boring.(I don't have Live so I wouldn't know.)
BUT, I think it's worth the money.

Why or why not?Impexyes its worth a buy...its an excellent game both single and multiplayer wise....haters will try to tell you that the multiplayer is rushed but it isnt...plus they just released a patch to fix some issues...so yes i would say buy for sure
Personally I'd say rent. It's fun, but after you beat it, there isn't much reason to play any more. The multiplayer isn't addicting and the single player is so long that you probably wont want to play through it again.
But thats just me. I'd have traded my copy in if my friends didn't force me to play it with them on a semi-regular basis.
If you played all the way through San Andreas then yes, I got to the third island and gave up, but I finished vice city.
The missions are very repetative and boring in my opinion so I got bored pretty quickly, It's good fun to mess around on though definantly rent it.
it's fun, but i have kinda lost a bit of intrest in it. i haven't even finished it yet, i guess it depends how much you got into the previous games jaredrichards3
Thats the same as myself, great game, but if your looking for a revelation in this game, its not there. If you like the past ones bets on this one will hit the spot
In my opinion, no, rent it. The story is awesome and probably the best i've ever played. But after you beat it then what? Shoot all the "flying rats" or do the side missions? Just doesnt interest me. You could play it online but for me I stopped after a month and never went back. All my friends and me got the game the day it came out, beat the story, then we wanted to go online and kick some but. But that just didn't happen. The game is extremely laggy, unfair, and non competitive. When it lags its impossible to play. To much control is given to the host. They pick the area, weapons, and score/time limit. They even get to do this in ranked games. Plus kids find it funny to make random teams since you can pick your team. So, unless you have 15 friends that always play GTA so you can play your on custom games, then GTA online will not be much fun.
OK, so rent it for as long as you plan on it taking you to beat the story, then try the multiplayer. If for some reason you enjoy playing it online, then great, buy it.
I haven't once regreted my purchase. Very much enjoying the game. However if you're truly on the fence and don't want to "waste" your money then I would recommend renting it. It's a cheap method of testing out a game to see if it's right FOR YOU. Something no one else can do.
