Halo Wars seems like its just going to be a normal RTS game that wont be anything amazing but it will sell because it has the Halo name. Do you think this is true?TheTrebe
I disagree. Halo is keeping the brand name so it appeals to Halo fans and so it will easily be recognizable to newcomers as well. I like Bungie's direction with an RTS game because quite frankly, we need a change from the Halo series. Changing things up can be a good thing, and hopefully so with this new addition to the Halo franchise.

I have to agree with Ellan.
sorry to tell you but Bungie isn't producing it, Ensemble Studioes is, the Age of Empires people areSmartOne5792
was just going to say that >_>
Well, is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed just a cheap way for LucasArts to make a profit from the Star Wars name? Is GTAIV a cheap way for R* to make money from the GTA brand name? Is any sequel?
The answer in all cases is yes. It is cheaper to produce something like a sequel or spinoff because you've already done a lot of the production work in realising the universe the series is set in. So your preproduction costs are lower than if you are producing a new intellectual property from scratch.
Is this a bad thing? Depends. For most movie tie-ins (especially for kids movies/games) the answer is usually yes. These games are generally awful, but the producers don't care because they know the brand name will sell the game. In the case of Halo and the two franchises I used as examples above, the answer is no. We will get high quality (probably awesome, let's face it) games set in universes that we know and love and want more of.
I have no problem with Bungie/MS pimping out the Halo name so long as the games that are associated with that name continue to be of the high quality I expect. If they expect me to buy a piece of crap just because they slap the Halo name on it, they can forget it. They're smart enough to know that most (adult) fans of the series think this way.
