Is it

It really depends on the game. Some there are some noticable differences, while with others there isn't.
I think it is, keeps your xbox alot more quiet. and keeps the disc drive from having to constently spin the disc which is better on the disc drive and the whole xbox because it cuts down on heat and makes it so your disc drive will last longer. However Done of it matters if you don't have the space on your hard drive.
I say yes. Loading times i don't care about. None are that bad anywayimo. But the noise reduction is worth it alone.
only game you won't find beneficial is Halo 3.
everything else, and I do mean everything, offers enough of an incentive to install the game.
less noise from the drive
less heat from the drive
reduced boot times
and reduce load times.

So... Halo 3 doesn't have those benefits? :?
less noise and less heat yes.. but it decreases performance... it needs to stream info off the disk or something like that... bungie said not to install halo 3 for a few reasons.MethodManFTWThat's only if you're going to play online. You'd be fine if you're going solo (campaign, solo Forge, etc) or doing local MP, though.
agreed, sound becomes a lot clearer without the 360 background noiseI feel that even if it's only a little faster loading, the reduced noise really makes installing games worth it.

I just got my 360 a few days ago, but I am only going to install games instead of running them from the disc. Not only does it prolong the life of my console, it reduces the noise the system makes. I was very, very surprised at the amount of noise the system produced even when only running games off the hard drive. At least by installing, I can cut some of that noise down.

YES. Thanks, I was just about to type all of that.
If you dont want RROD, I would install the games. But the only game that would be a no no for...is Halo 3. Bungie said something about how it would reduce search times on the multi-player for those who installed Halo 3 on their hard drives. The harder your 360 works, the closer it will get to getting the RROD....

And that's pretty much all I'd be doing. I don't even have an X-box live gold membership.
Newer 360's aren't likely at all to get rrod installed games or not.If you dont want RROD, I would install the games. But the only game that would be a no no for...is Halo 3. Exactly! The noise doesn't drive me nutz but it's pretty darn loud. It beats dog barking any day of the week.. but installing games has its benefits.. and they all stack up. In the long run, if you buy quite a lot of games.. you'll end up needed a big HDD anyways. I only have like 10 Xbox 360 games and I'm near full on my 20GB. Because other stuff come in to play like DLC, or downloaded games, demos, movies, videos, etc. I needed to buy the 120GB.. grabbed one for only 60 bucks brand new on eBay. Can't wait to install the games that I play on a regular basis. Like someone else said.. I just don't like how the 360 violently spins the disc lol. Makes me cringe sometimes.I feel that even if it's only a little faster loading, the reduced noise really makes installing games worth it.

For the most part, I've found installing games only shaves of a few seconds here and there, hardly worth the effort. However, if you play games like, say, Forza 3, then you'll know it sounds like your Xbox is being eaten from the inside - so an install is worth it just to put your mind at rest.
On the other hand if you decide to install all your games you'll find that you soon run out of HD space.
[QUOTE="soapman72"]LMAO hahaha wow, you really thought MS would give you a license to steal? When I first got my pro I thought if you downloaded games you could play them without the disk and I was like I am going to rent a game right now and I rented like 6 games and I installed them all and I was disapponted...
