Is is too late to buy an XBOX 360?

hi,

i'm planning on purchasing an XBOX 360 at nov after my major examinations. okay, i've been living in the PS world (ps1, ps2, ps3, psp) so i'm pretty much fish out of water when it comes to XBOX.

ANYWAY! with the release of castle crashers and soon to be fable II i'm REALLY tempted cause i could really use a nice adventure after my exams. AND i'm pretty worried about buying things at the wrong time.

A) is there near future plans for the XBOX which i dont know about and that would make me regret buying the console at nov?

B) should i look out for anything when buying? some things that i SHOULD have?

C) a good rpg parallel to games like final fantasy and fable?

Not at all. The XBOX 360 is still a brilliant purchase. I am a Playstation 3 owner and I still play my 360 lots.

There are loads of great games coming out, and a new Halo project has just been announced, so I would say go for it.

I don't think they have any plans to release new 360 models anytime soon.

As far as i know, no, there is a major dashboard update which you will download if you have Xbox Live, this will (hopefully) make it a better than ever time to have an Xbox.

B) should i look out for anything when buying? some things that i SHOULD have?

Get a play and charge kit, they are brilliant. Wireless controller are battery powered, and these kits remove that need. Also, get Xbox live sorted out ASAP. And, as other have mentioned, a warranty will be useful.

C) a good rpg parallel to games like final fantasy and fable?

Lost odessy, blue dragon, Mass effect, oblivion, fallout 3

this is the best time to buy 360 matey, lots of good old game titles out there with good prices not to mention the console price itself these days and these next two months lots of great titles are coming..am telling you go for it

BTW, there are nearly 600 retail games availible to you, pick up some old ones cheap before you buy new stuffJJpenguin

Final fantasy 7 on the ps1 still owns the hell outta any RPG's that people can come up with on these MUUUUCH more powerful systems. Anyone remember the Emerald and Ruby weapons? those things were tough. . .But! Oblivion is the best RPG the 360 has to offer. Nothing like Final fantasy or fable. It's more a dark dungeon troll stabbing quest solver. Still it's F**kin Fantastic

The XBOX 360 is at a great price right now and is well worth getting on price alone.

What really makes it an essential purchase right now though, is the fact that there are so many quality games coming out for it in the coming weeks.

You mentioned Fable II and there is also - Gears of War 2, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Banjo Kazooie etc. to keep you busy until Christmas and beyond.

No, there really isn't anything to worry about.

If you do get RROD Microsoft will fix it for you anyway.

It's a great time to buy one. I just recently bought one myself, actually. I'm enjoying some old games I never got a chance of playing (GeoW, Halo 3, Lost Odyssey, GTA 4, and many, many more), while waiting for the releases coming out soon (Fable 2, Fallout 3, Fifa 09, GeoW 2, Banjo, etc.) and not so soon (RE5, FF XIII, Star Ocean 4, etc.).

I can safely say that my gaming needs are satisfied.

now is probably the best time to buy a xbox 360 new updates great games it is great and the prices dropped i bought mine a week before the first price cut i was mad alittle

great thing to buy, the next Xbox will prob not be outuntil 2012. Games library is huge. Make sure to get a warranty tho...

No, it's not too late to get a 360. One thing I would advise: Get an in-store warranty. Even brand new 360 can still get RROD. I've had two consoles fail on me, but I had an in-store warranty, so I was back up gaming in less than an hour. That's compared to the weeks everyone else has to wait to send it in to Microsoft.Palantas

i second this recommendation. I posted a blog about how my first 360 died (which was like 3 days ago) and like Palantas here, i was up and running within an hour with a new elite

I own both consoles and love both. If you pick up an Xbox, you are going to need Mass Effect (RPG), Oblivion (unless you played it on PS3 already), Bioshock (unless you really want to wait for the PS3 port), Gears of War, and either of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighters if you like tac shooters. That's my advice anyway. Oh, and make sure you get the big hard drive if you play a lot, the smaller one fills up FAST.
