I am looking to get a 360 for my birthday in October; is it a good idea to get one? I keep reading about failures and I don't want to waste my time sending the thing back and forth to get fixed. I know there is the extended warranty and the new HDMI for the Premium, but should I get one? Has anyone heard any major problems with the new ones being produced? And is there a new chip coming soon? Thanks a lot!
If you are referring to newer enhancements that "might" be on the upcoming units like the alleged bigger hard drives, I would really consider all the great games you will not playing if you wait: Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect...
like the other guys said so many good games are coming out over the next couple of weeks, it already started with bioshock and medal of honor airborne, so for that reason alone you should get one.
about being worried it'll break, i've had mine for about a year and half and have had no problems, same with most of my friends, and have never heard anything about the newest versions breaking down
I'd say it is... the new 3 year warrenty... great looking games coming out for the holiday season... GOTY version of Oblivion... and lots of good games already out that u can pick and choose from.
For current games to check out I'd recommend: Gears of War, Dead Rising, Oblivion (wait for GOTY version), Bioshock, and Saints Row.
Those r just my favs there r plenty more good games out there for u to check out.
It's been a good time to buy an Xbox 360 ever since November of last year. It is perhaps a better time to buy it now considering the lower price and Halo 3 right around the corner.
i say buy it now and get a service plan from the store you bought from, so if anything happens to the 360 you just go to store and they give you a new one no questions asked.

Bioshock alone is a reason to get a 360 if you don't have a good PC to play it on....and I am not even talking about the host of other killer games for it.
I would wait 6 months to a year before buying a 360 just to see how it progresses with the hardware problems. It does no good to own a system if you're constantly having to have it replaced or repaired. Patience will pay big for those who understand that waiting is better than having to have something now.
