I've been seeing a lot of stories of Xbox's dying from over-heating. Is this a problem that is big enough to warrant getting a cooler kit of some sort, or is it just being blown out of proportion (Not that it doesn't happen, just the likelihood of it). If so, are there any trusted/good quality units? I've seen one called Powerwave, and it seems to be regarded highly.
Besides, not only are they loud but I've heard from other fellow 360'ers and roomies that their 360s with fans short-circuited, 3/5 is a pretty scary number even when you consider coincedences! The others just removed their fans and the ones who lucked out just shipped them back for repairs.
Just keep it well ventilated...unless you live in some 100+ degree house that's unconditioned--then you might have a problem.
Just try your hardest to keep your 360 as ventilated as possible. I also recommend keeping the console vertical so that it will get better ventilation.
Nope, I wouldn't use it. If you look at how a lot of the coolers are made, most of them actually block the vents. Basically they have tiny slits in the back of the cooler for the air to come out of which are a lot smaller than if you use nothing. If you need to use a fan, then just buy a handheld one it will do the same job without blocking any vents.
