I would imagine facing a fan from the right (where the intake is) to the rear left corner would be a good idea.

It wont do anything

The problem isn't the air getting out of the 360 it's the air coming INTO the 360. Since a fan doesn't change the temp of the room it's not changing the temp of the air that enters the console.

An XBOX working correctly (with the Falcon chip) pushes out enough air to keep the temp at safe operating temperature. Now if you think you need a fan because of the temperature of your room you should look into a way of keeping the room at a temp where electronics will run correctly. Either opening a window or grabbing an air conditioner.

A fan would help with getting the hot air away from the back of the console via convection. As the hot air leaves hot air from inside the box is gonna wanna rush out to replace it. It would eliminate any possibility of any heat buildup near the intake too. Don't know how it works in reality though. I don't think it will hurt anything so give it a shot if it gives you any peace of mind.

i think it depends on how much your paying for it... i heard the really crap ones could wreck your xbox.... but the good ones probably help cool it down quite well.
