hey guys

i bought darksiders and bayonetta for my 360

well darksiders is pure awesomness

but i think bayonetta is quite the opposite

am i right about that?

i mean i only finished the prologues and got bored ultra quickly that i couldn't finish level 1

till now i haven't found ANYTHING in bayonetta that deserves a 9.0 or a 9.5

so should i play through the game or should i trade it back?

I guess it depends on your tolerance of the wacky japanese stylings in the game, but I never found the game boring. Say what you want about the story, characters, whatever, but I thought the action was incredibly fast, visceral and intense.

I don't know what to tell you other than to give it time. It does build up pretty quickly after the first couple of chapters, but if you get to 5 or 6 and still aren't digging it, nothing that the game does from that point on could probably change your mind. It just might not be your cup of tea.

It is your personal opinion really. There are games that get 6 and 7 that I would give a 9 and vice versa. I have come to the conclusion that most reviewers are subsidized by gaming companies especially after all the games that got 9's and 10's and most of them don't deserve it. I bought an entire console after Gamespot game some games 10's and 9's only to find that they were average or brutal games. I now base my purchase decisions off of gameplay footage and a demo of the game.

Bayonetta's more for the hardcore crowd. It takes more time and will kill you if you just try to button-mash. it becomes rewarding if you're willing to learn.

Did you play the demo before buying? I quickly realized it wasn't for me from the demo.

I loved the demo, so I bought Bayonetta, and I love the game! It's a game that a lot of people aren't going to like though, almost like the Metal Gear Solid games. Even though they're completely different.

Why would you buy a game you clearly know nothing about? Also you can't judge a game based on the prologue.

Bayonetta is awesome. In my opinion the game represents the genre, it's pure Action! and of course, storywise its horrible, but who cares about story when you have an amazing gameplay like that? Maybe its you my friend. The game rule.

I was hoping to get this later in like April after Mass Effect 2, FF13 and other games i've been waiting for, it looked like it captured the awesomeness of the early Devil May Cry's. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Bayonetta's not a game that you can fully judge without playing the whole thing since the stuff later in the game is much better than the stuff early in the game. I thought it was a bit shaky early on too. I didn't really start getting into it until somewhere around ch. 5 or so, but there's some really awesome stuff in that game if you stick with it. That said, it's still a love-it-or-hate-it game and I'd say that if you play through three or four chapters and still hate it that you should move on to something else.

I dont think we're playing the same game....isn't it a sin to put "boring" and "Bayonetta" in the same sentence?! It should be!

No, it's not just you. I didn't like it either. Darksiders is 100 times better. I have finished both and I regret wasting time on Bayonetta. Trade it in while it's still hot.

It's pretty much the spiritual successor to Devil May Cry... not surprising since it's from the makers of the original DMC, so I guess it depends on whether or not you enjoyed those games, if you got the chance to play them. It's all about stylish action and while you can certainly button mash a bit through your first playthrough, there's a lot to the combat mechanics and I appreciate the free-style combo gameplay.

It is pretty wacky, which will probably turn some people off, but I find highly enjoyable and replayable, but if it's not your thing... I say try to at least finish a few more chapters before coming to conclusions. Can't really say much about Darksiders, since I haven't played it yet.

It definitely has to do with your preferences in gaming. I thought I'd like Darksiders far more and did at first, but the puzzles making up so much of the game were a drag to me and the puzzles were not fun or visually interesting to complete, in my opinion. I was turned off by Bayonetta at first and thought I'd hate it, but after doing a full run through (I had to play on easy LOL, this games is NOT a button masher despite what some people say - you really have to get good at using combos and swithcing weapons etc) I wound up finding Bayonetta to be far more imagnative and just more fun to play. Even the puzzles, to me, were really fun to solve in Bayonetta - in Darksiders I wound up being mostly annoyed by them and felt like they sort of ground the game to a halt. I also found a distinct lack of feeling like a badass in Darksiders - the fighting just felt a bit lackluster and joyless. So I was pretty surprised to see I had the opposite reaction to these games that I thought I would have. The only downside for me is with Bayonetta I don't think I wil even get skilled enough to beat it on the two hardest settings. Normal is about as far as I'll be able to go I think. : )

Other than DBZ I am not a fan of wacky Japanese stuff, so I was quite turned off from Bayonetta. I think I will go with Dante's Inferno for an action/platformer.

What Happens Now ? :

Now TC is going to give the game another try and force himself to play through the game even though he doesn't like it simply becomes others enjoy and he wants to experience the same joy we have with the game, people need to except that not every popular game appeals to you.

Just trade the game in for something that you like. Me ? I like over the top anime based games with a good learning curve that takes time to learn, its all the more rewarding in the end.

I hate it, Its not that its a bad game. Im just sick of the Japanese Artstylestuff now a days. Im not a teenager anymore andthat obsessive time has passed where I would pretty much ony play a game that was Japanese Designed. Im 26, and I would much rather play something more Mature like Dantes Inferno or God of War 3 when they come out. Beyonetta just makes me shake my head, I cannot stand that artstyle anymore. Unless its cleverly designed like a Lost Odyssey.
