Is it just me or is GeOW over hyped.

I find the campaign short but fun after countless attempts with a friend. Online is buggy and host advantage pisses me off. It doesn't deserve all the hype it gets though.

However, A LOT of games don't deserve all the hype they get.

It is agreat game. Blame the people hyping the game, not the game itself.

And considering it came out almost a year ago now, this is a little late.

Well I had GeOW since launch and all I have to say is its not what everyone says it is. I mean its an ok game but its not " HOLY **** this is the most amazing game I have ever played.". I think it basicly runs on hype and everyone plays it because their friends play it. Recently I realised this and I'm going to sell it, what do you guys think about GeOW?Flame77507

hmmm...it does bring out the adrenaline rush, but if you don't find as it, then go ahead and sell it, but there arent any o ther game that delivers such things as Gears of War...

A very weak game the cover system amounts to little more than duck, shoot, reload ... rinse and repeat ... the story is to short and online well ssssoooo many problems and of course the big downfall the community was/ are just so anoying. It's only saving grace was the way it looked and that alone! - Oh and before any smart alec says but it's in your gamer card just take a look at how little of it I can be bothered to do ... says it all - But each to thier own I'm not starting anything here just my opinion!!Anabub

Yeah. I mean what the hell. When you duck and cover behind things you should at least be able to do 30 thousand different things. I mean, ducking, shooting reloading, (basically what taking cover is all about) is NOT enough. We need to be able to do so many more things then that. Like taking cover, and brushing our teeth, or massaging the wall with our hands to see how hard it really is.

Luckily your opinion doesn't equal anything. "oh my god, the community is so mean because whenever I play the game I get mocked and shouted at, or I'm a really poor sport and they are hurting my feelings by talking trash." Honestly I haven't met any rude, or incredibly ill mannered people on Gears of War. I don't know what your problem is. I get along with everyone fine. Maybe I'm just not a baby and I don't flip out whenever I lose a match. "oh god you killed me. HOST! HOST! It's clearly not my fault that i was killed, no, they were cheating. ITS NOT LIKE THEY ARE A BETTER PLAYER THEN ME!"

I also noticed how you couldn't name any of those "ssssoooo many problems". And what the hell is up with people saying the story is short as one of it's huge weaknesses? I guess alot of you never realized, but the majority of shooter campaigns are always short. FEAR can be beaten in around 2 hours, Bioshock in around 8 hours. Gears of War, probably around 2 to 3 hours. It's not like you can beat it in 30 minutes. So stop complaining.

Personally I agree with ya

I got it when it came out and fell in love with it, beat it a couple of times, thought it was the greatest thing, played online a little bit, then one day I stopped playing it in the middle of January. Didn't even have the desire to put it back in the console, and like you are going to, I actually just sold it, to get Blue Dragon (i am sure i am going to get flammed for that), but I feel like i will enjoy Blue Dragon a lot longer than what I did Gears.

I can see why people think it was a great game, and still is to some people, just to me it isn't anymore, and that why we all have opinions, but I do agree with yous

Yeah it's a good game but it's not OMFG!!!11!!1 imo. But then I suppose people could say the same thing about Halo.

But for me I still like Halo better. It's got more weapons, more vehicles, more enemies, and more varied enviroments that aren't covered in mud. Not hating on GoW just my opinion.

Its a good game, but nothing ground breaking in my eyes. Shotguns are also a bit too overpowered when it comes to the multiplayer portion of the game.

Single player was great, a little short but overall great co-op game. Online is just boring after a while same thing over and over. Shotguns and Snipers are the only weapons people use. I will admit graphics wise is untouchable, but that's not what makes a game......Over Hyped

easily one of the best games ever.. thats right, ever. not to many games are as intese and fun to play period!!
